Roe rut possibly starting?

Gents, it tends to go quiet on the buck side of things post rut. When do they start to reappear after they’ve recharged?

Obviously you get some indications of a ‘false rut’ in September too
Nobody can give you that answer.
Just go out and experience every day you can and keep in the memory.
Then next year you will have more knowledge of when things like that happen, but will realise nothing is set in stone and every beast can be different.
See folk saying such and such county has the rut finished when in reality I would put money on that somewhere in that county there is still rutting going on right this minute.
An open mind is needed and books are a good start point but won’t be 50% of the knowledge you can have through keeping an open mind.

I guess it's going to vary widely but having not fed much through the rut (roe feed more than the larger species obviously) it's always stuck me as odd that they aren't out on the fields/rides/glades trying to put bulk on after the rut. I usually leave them quiet for the rest of August but have shot plenty in September

Totally get that. I’ve caught up with my quota so it was more for interest. Don’t think I could have gone out for more dog walks with the binos this year 😂
I do have the Richard prior book which is interesting, just need more time to read it!

That was my thoughts to be honest. You’d think they’d be more active

They are keep coming....

Big male, not rutting obviously! I'd say a bit heavier than the little one I shot month back would recon 26-28lbs, what to be fair mature bucks wont be that far off weight wise at the moment too......

Had a buck and a doe that I got out the car for, but another car drove past and spooked it, seen that buck twice now but haven't gotten a look at his antlers seemly has a big body given the doe next to it looked like a kid!

Hi There - I’m planning to go it tonight (24th Aug) in East Lothian. Is there any point calling this late or is it totally pointless?

Its well over but I'm still seeing people on Facebook having bucks coming into the call, never hurts to try If you dont see anything directly I supose.

Was speaking to someone yesterday who’d called a buck in the day before. Nothing ventured I suppose. I guess it would just depend on what the particular doe nearby is doing.

Plus there is usually false rut posts in September

Thanks all - calling didn’t work but I did come across a roe when moving position after calling for 10 minutes . 16kg larder weight . Rut is over - but what a rut it’s been too.

Dragged this out from a copse into the open field , with a cherrywood, came in like a train.
It was so pumped up, as with half a heart on the floor taken out by the bullet, still managed to run back into the cover.
This was this Saturday, the 23rd, late morning.
