Roedinator RIP my friend

A very sad loss indeed. Spoke to Pete a few times at the Somerset/Wiltshire meets.
My condolences to the family.

RIP Pete. A cracking shot on the clay circuit (had just made the England team) and a real gent.

A long time ambition of Pete's was to represent his country and one of his proudest achievements which he realised last year after several years knocking at the door and narrowly missing out on selection by the narrowest of margins.

Pete was extremely competitive but always wanted to win fairly which is not something that you can say about all competitive shooters. He was the same with rifles and you should have seen him shooting alongside his son Jake of whom he was extremely proud at this year's H4H charity shoot. The friendly rivalry between the two of them was a joy to witness and they were neck and neck until Pete finally nudged forward by a single point. I must admit that I was envious of Pete at that point, me not having a son to shoot against. Personally it gave me a great deal of pleasure to see Pete shooting against his best mate (Jake).

I've not been on here much lately and can't believe I've just read this! I only met Pete each year at the H4H shoot but it felt like you'd known him for years he just had such a pleasant way about him. I too watched him and Jake this year and made me think how I can't wait to be doing the same one day with my lads!

It won't be the same without him and his banter and echo the sentiments of others in saying he'll be sorely missed! Why is it always the good uns?!

RIP and my sincere condolences to Jake and the rest of his family,

Stratts

Mum, jake and myself (Charlotte Pete's daughter) are extremely overwhelmed with all the comments about dad, we know from everyone's messages of condolences the shooting world has lost a top shot and won't be forgotten.
Dad has been taken from us way too soon and this is what we are finding so hard to come to terms with.
We are so proud of how far dad got in the shooting world and that he achieved his absolute ultimate goal which was to be In the England team.
For those who would like to attend the funeral I will post more details when we know more.

Just heard this sad news from Stratts. Like him I only met Pete on the H4H days over the years.
Was a good man and will be sadly missed.
My thoughts go out to your family.
Dale.

Charlotte,
thank you for taking the time to post. I didn't know your Dad, but reading about him makes me wish I had.
I lost my dearest friend in similar circumstances and am very sorry for your loss.

Pete stalked in Herefordshire with Wayne and I several times and I also had the pleasure of stalking with him and Jake in Somerset. He was a genuinely good guy who loved a bit ( ok, a lot ) of banter. Condolences to his lovely family. A great loss to his many friends and to the shooting world.

For those intending to attend Pete's funeral I have just received a message from Bandit informing me that the funeral is at Wanstrow Church at 1.30 p.m. on the 3rd of November.

Just to add that Terresa (Pete's wife) has asked that if those attending the funeral have shooting suits (tweeds) would you wear them please.

Just got home, well, what a turnout, many hundreds of people there.
Pete would have been humbled.
The church was packed,
The churchyard was packed,
The ground and road around the church was packed.
The whole village was packed.

Rest in Peace Pete.

Pleased to have known you, honoured to have been considered a friend

Regards

Pete

Not long been back, what a turn out, it just went to show the mark of the man.
As has been said, Church, roads and practically the whole village was swamped with vehicles and people.
Afterwards the Public House was bursting at the seams.
Oh, I nearly forgot, for those that could get to the Pub afterwards were treated to a feast set for the 'Forty Thousand' there were trays of food spread all around the room.
I have been to a few funerals just lately, one or two quite well attended but none as well attended as Pete's.
My condolences go to the family as Pete will have left such a great big hole in their lives that will never be filled.
Every time I hear thunder now I will think it you up there Pete starting up a new Clay Shooting Club, Rest in Peace mate it was a pleasure to have known you.
