RSPB Expose

Thoughts on this expose? For alot of years I've been very suspicious of the conservation charities especially ones that make their living through emotive propaganda on BOP persecution and their tactics deployed to gather evidence, I suspect that animal rights extremists infiltrated said charities and were used to bend the law to suit the narrative.
Will be interesting to see how this unfolds.

Sad to admit it does not surprise me.
I would live to see some indepth studies on the grants recieved and the 'benefits' from them.
Had a small fortune, i think in millions for Caper for almost no gain.
Id also like to see studies of ecolofical surveys done either before or in 1st yr and yrs later.
See how much wildlife and biodiversity has declined over their stewardship.

See how that affects donations.

Im sure plenty of dubious alleged 'missing' raptors.
But i'd love to see wot they eventually discovered up in the Black Isle at scotlands worst mass posioning incident?
Made a lot of news at the time and big rewards offered for info.
But all went very quiet and all quite near a Red Kite feeding station

I do not give anything to either RSPCA nor RSPB. But as it costs them money I do send in the freepost RSPB Big Garden Biridwatch. Reporting, truthfully, that all I see now in my garden are magpies and woodpigeon. In the former ever increasing numbers that only become more as the population of songbids I used to see gets fewer. It is still time, just as it was 24/25 Jan 2026, to go online for this year?

This is why absolutely everything that comes from these spiteful idiots should be treated with complete and utter distain no matter how genuine it is.Until they can be trusted to act with integrity then they should be looked at with contempt because their real agendas are to make money and cease fieldsports.
It's absolutely comical how many gullibles on here comment slating us at every opportunity when some of their propaganda driven guff is posted.

a) As at 21.3.24 the RSPB had assets of almost £233M

b) September 2024: “THERE has been another pay rise for the RSPB's chief executive, Beccy Speight.

The charity's annual report reveals that her annual remuneration package (including benefits) has risen to £200,069.

This compares with £195,445 last year and £189,473 the previous year.

She is paid significantly more than the prime minister, Sir Keir Starmer (£166,786) and even his chief of staff, Sue Gray (£170,000).

Except for attending board meetings, Ms Speight seldom attends the society's HQ in Bedfordshire. She prefers to work from her home in Nottinghamshire.

Between them, Ms Speight and her other seven directors were last year paid £848,970 compared with £788,373 the previous year when there was one fewer director.”

I very seldom give anything to mainstream charities anymore. They’re just another business sector often with too much of the whiff of ‘our CEO needs a new yacht….please give generously.’ As per the old 1980’s anti drugs campaign slogan ‘just say no.’

Sadly , I wouldn't for a moment assume this would get recorded by the rspb accurately.
When I started work on this estate in 1998 it had just been bought by a wealthy man who wanted to turn it into a sporting estate. The rspb contacted the agent to seek permission to undertake a 10 yearly survey , against my wishes the agent gave consent. I went with the field workers and did the survey with them . We saw all the usual moorland birds , including SE owls , Merlin's , kestrels etc.
When we got the official survey back all the BOP were omitted. I challenged the results , informing the rspb guy I spoke on the phone to that I was present during the survey , he apologised for the error and sent us the true count out.
This happens often with rspb counts. It's not in their best interests to show sporting estates in a favourable light.

Don't want to defend this particular individual in the slightest but, unfortunately, that is the sort of renumeration package that is required to attract people to the CEO of any big business (I purposefully didn't say charity}

likewise , shocking waste of funds within charities they should be ashamed of themselves

there is obviously some exceptions

Try looking at what proportion of RSPB funds goes to actual conservation each year if you really want to start the day in a fowl mood.

A few years back, I was confronted on my doorstep by 2 RSPB canvassers asking me to do a direct debit for a minimum of £10 per month. I told them wasn't going to be doing it.
The one doing the talking had a look round and commented that it was a nice neighbourhood and I had a decent car (Subaru Forester) and could afford it. The cheeky b@rstard even checked my watch out.
At that point I told them to get off my property fast. I was so annoyed, I complained to RSPB. They said they weren't RSPB employees, just hired canvassers.
I wouldn't give them a penny
