Safest way to get a rifle up a high seat?

We now have a new high seat which is very high, seat bit is 5M up due to terrain.

Im trying to think of the safest way to get a rifle up there, in the dark, which making as little noise as possible, without dropping or me falling off.

Perhaps a rope is the best option? If so how would you attach the rifle?

Agree, I have mine in a loden slip but have the barrel to the front up 30 degrees and then go up the 11 degrees sloped at least, ladder, I will not climb vertical ladders as they are too dangerous IMO.

Agreed. We have a lot lot to learn about highseats in the UK. Many have vertical ladders and are accidents waiting to happen. Ones I have used on the continent have steps up to them (rather than a ladder), many with a handrail with a landing area before entering the hut bit.

Taking a rifle up. Keep it in a slip. Unloaded and hoist it up on a rope if you have a difficult to get into seat. Having it on your shoulder can make getting into a small door way or seat very difficult

In reference to Vertical ladders .... So long as the tower itself is correctly anchored to the ground , i really cannot see the fuss . I have been up many far, far higher than a high seat and often in the dark towing heavy welding cables up with me . The ones i am bothered by most is some DIY welded ones or badly corroded or rotting wooden ones, sometimes with nailed joints working themselves open . Best to do your own look over things , there have been many i have been sent off to climb that i have deemed unsafe and just stopped on the ground in that location instead . If its a difficult access , take a reel of paracord with you and haul your rifle up once you are up safe. Far more stress on a steeply angled ladder than a vertical upright one .
Definitely dont go up one your not happy about though personally in any way

Having in the past built high seats ranging from ladders and a plastic seat to roofed '3 person' towers, I found that their best reason for having them was for satisfying the Firearms Officer when he conducted the inspection of the ground when renewing my FAC!
However, I've just bought a high seat from A1 Decoy of Bristol for use in Scotland. I've yet to use it but, having spoken with someone who has one, I'm told that they are very easy to erect and very stable. I'll post again once I've used it in anger.
