Sako A-II Stock

My brother is looking for a replacement Sako A-II stock as he was given one by his father in law in Sweden (it's been legally transferred to him before anyone asks) as it is an old model I was hoping someone might be able to point me in the direction of where I might be able to get him a new stock as his is split from just above the trigger to the bolt which makes it dangerous to fire to say the least, if anyone has any ideas they would be greatly appreciated as it would be a shame to have to have it decommissioned. Other issue is I need to ship it to Sweden which I assume wont be too tricky as it is just a lump of wood after all.

Get the stock fixed professionally (unless truly beyond repair).

Aftermarket stocks from Boyds and McMillan are made for that action but any potential value (whether sentimental or monetary) will be ruined.

One can repair almost any stock. Just fixed a Churchill shotgun stock that was shattered and had been repaired about three times before... had to super glue all the bits together first before making strong.
Best would be to pillar bed while doing the repair.

I have a Sako wood stock but cannot recall whether it is an A1 or an A11 - I restock all my rifles and have Sakos in .223 and .243 - If its of any help I set out the following measurements : -
1. Length of cut out for bottom action = 174mm
2. Space between centres of stock securing bolts = 157mm

If you are interested please pm me - I would be looking for £50 plus postage.

Several options are open to you, depends on the type of break (Picture would be good).
If split 'along' the grain, there is a good chance it can be fixed, i.e. pinned/reinforced/glued.
Breaks 'across' the grain, are less likely to allow for a safe repair.

Check with local gunsmiths before changing the stock :thumb:
