How reliable is this rifle ? if you have or still own one what is your thoughts on it ?would you buy another one?

I don’t have one, but have used one: whilst I had no problem the owner has experienced mis-feeds on follow up shots that by all accounts GMK don’t want to acknowledge. There is no apparent after-market fix either. The calibres were .308 and 6.5 CM. Put me off buying one.

Hmmm.
I had the pleasure of zeroing a brand new .270 for my farmer pal. It shot very well with whatever factory ammo he had but for some reason I did not warm to it and the trigger was very poor.

Neither do Sako.

These issues were apparent in the pre-launch trial rifles sent out for review. Sako did nowt before the official launch. As per, you will have to wait for the next model before there is a 'fix'.

Buy a Tikka.

Why oh why did Sako (who have or is it had, a great reputation) ever launch a rifle with a known fault? That is (rightly) how reputations are destroyed or are they just cynically trading on their name?

As they already likely have products produced and stockpiled, and also likely don't have a design modification tested, verified and ready to go.

No different to launching the 85 with such a steep brass ejection angle which inevitably caused issues in long actions 🤷🏻

Sometimes makes you wonder what level of testing goes on before a product is launched?

Have S20 in 308. Only picked up recently Have put about 50 rounds through it. Had a single misfeed (in that the cartridge was not picked up by the bolt) but it was me not cycling the bolt properly.

Issues I've read about are rattly magazines (mine is fine) and misfeeds on the mag (I think there is a fix sold on eBay for a few quid). I knew about these but still went ahead as I liked the fit and idea of the rifle.

At the range it was very accurate.

One thing to note is the style of shooting it fosters- the Thumbhole and the cheek piece, along with the integrated rails which dictate scope placement to a certain extent mean I have quite a head down and forward style of hold with it. This feels quite different to other rifles I have which have much lower open combs (hogback etc). It's definitely a more 'locked in' style of hold. I think that will be conducive to accurate shooting but maybe slightly less versatile than a straight sporting rifle. I actually ended up dropping the comb a little from the setting I had it on and removing some spacers to create a shorter rifle to make it a little more flexible. I'm still playing around with mine but I may need to add a rail so I can bring the scope back and closer to my eye to give a more relaxed position with eye relief.

I think it's an interesting concept, and whilst I'm still playing around, I think once I've worked out what I'm happy with RE fit it's going to be a very good, accurate, solid rifle. That being said, it is something a bit different

Hope that helps, happy to answer any questions

I have a trusty T3, and despite really trying can’t find anything I really prefer or that outshoots it. Overall I was unimpressed with the S20. I found it heavy and hollow/plasticky even compared to the T3 stock. For £2k plus I was underwhelmed. The owner likes it, but I couldn’t retain confidence in a rifle that has a significant feed problem.

I will say in my deliberations before purchasing I read as many good reviews by forum members as I had read negative comments.
I guess it comes down to whether you're interested in the unique features of the rifle enough to potentially have to fiddle around with a misfeeding mag *if* the issue arises for you.
At the end of the day, a tikka T3x will probably be a very safe bet, but if you want something different and go into it with your eyes open, knowing of potential (but I am sure fixable) issues with a magazine ... Only you can make that decision

It's different that's for sure. Maybe a little marmite, but I like mine.

Bolt stop can be 'rounded out' after some use, meaning the bolt just comes straight back.

Not sure why someone would buy one over a T3x.

I had one for a year or two and it was my “rough gun” for stalking and range use, it was great, did everything I needed and I put around 240 rounds through it without an issue.

I really like the idea of s20 and really tried to buy one but it just feels like a rocket launcher, ended up with t3x super

Avoid
Just get a T3

Rattley , recoil lug failures, feeding problems, cerakote peels off.
I think the FC bought their rangers the S20 and got as far as buying a handful and had seen enough..

Same - wanted to love one, but on test found it heavy, rattled like a box of tic tacs and simply cannot believe you cannot remove the bolt without lowering the cheek piece.

Pretty darn accurate tho as you would expect.

I’ve got one in 6.5 creed, it’s faultless. Shoots well too. I did change the trigger for a 2 stage and put a lighter spring in it as well but it shoots and handles good. It’s my smash around rifle to be honest I keep my t3 and 595 semi customs for bonnet work or non work stuff
