Sauer 100 or Tikka t3x lite for stalking (6.5 creedmoor) ?

Which one for stalking as I want a nice lightweight unit but capable of a bit of gong bashing up to 500m

Asking as I have tikka CTR at the moment and haven’t used a Sauer, so really after opinions of Sauer owners, past or present, probably looking at the Keeper or XTA

I've a Sauer 100 XTA in 6.5 Creedmoor, Its a good rifle and shoots well it does what it says on the tin but with no frills. Tikka are fantastic rifles and as above are much more customisable with accessories / upgrades if that's your thing, or you think you may fancy a change down the road?

I would find a gun shop that had both and put them side by side and get the feel of them both. I found the Sauer a little more ascetically pleasing and I've had Sauer's in the past and loved them.

Its a difficult one and just down to personal choice really as they all do the job very well...

I have a Tikka in 6.5 creed as I was thinking down the same road as you. My Remy 308 is heavy and not easy for off hand shots etc.

The Tikka satisfied my need nicely, accurate, light, stainless synthetic with detachable mag. Used from the box as is, nice trigger and shoots well off a stick in tall grass.

Can't comment on Sauer as not had one.

I have a 6.5 cm Tikka it’s not a lightweight to heavy for stalking, but great for range work, my 223, CTR is light and suitable, but not with an MDT Oryx that changes the dynamic.

@eldon hit the nail with the details 👍

Both are equally good, well made and accurate (with the right load) rifles that will meet both your needs. So go and handle them at a gun shop and see which one you like best. Don’t over think it, pick the one that appeals to you most, remember there is also an aesthetic element to choosing a rifle as well and the practical ones.

As stated by others they are both good rifles made well by very good manufacturers,

I'd go to your nearest RFD that had the 100 XTA and the keeper in and compare to the T3X see what feels right to yourself.

I have owned a sauer 100 the 3 position safety is a plus and the trigger is nice and was perfectly usable out
of the box with no adjustments.

The downside for me was the low comb even with an allen comb raiser I struggled to get good cheek weld with it,
the XTA with its adjustable cheek piece would be worth a look,

do they make the keeper in 6.5 creedmoor I thought it was only 223 and 243 that they did it in those calibers/cartridges?

They keeper is just the Panterra in the synthetic stock I think some dealers made up keepers in 6.5 creedmoor. I know there is one in Cluny sports in Fife

The tikka also has a three stage safety, whilst I do like the functionalit, I d use it very often.

There is a keeper for sale in 6.5 and you can get a kalix to fit it, so thank you for the information to date

My Tikka lite wears a DPT mod and is very good for balance and handling.

You really do need to feel the rifles and make your own mind up with them side by side.
I thought about treating myself to a new .22 rf as my old one is now around 30 year old and I was curious of the T1x I think it's called. Unfortunately the shop also had a new CZ and as much as I "wanted" to prefer the Tikka I couldn't help feeling the CZ had a smoother and better quality feel to it...... so I bought neither and will revisit this at some point in the future as I have an empty slot unless someone has a nice stainless 2nd hand one for sale?

Funny how your/my previously well thought out intention changes once you have the item in your hands.
