Schmidt & Bender or Swarovski

Looking to by new scope, is there anything between these two brands or is it just personal preference.

All help or advice appreciated

John

Not much in it as far as the optics go. Swarovskis aftercare is second to none and a lot longer guarantee than the s&b but then the s&b is a good bit cheaper. There's pros and cons of both but I don't think u would b disappointed by either

which one?
i had a duralyte but it seemed poor compared to my diavari and my conquest! both these are better than my swaro pv's and i'd even say my meopta is better than swaro! only looked thro a couple of s+b's but didn't like em.
but what my eyes are comfortable with others may not!
i'd suggest trying a few other makes other than just the two you have listed ,for example meopta bushnell doctor etc...

I use the S&B zenith on all my rifles and I cannot fault them, they do exactly what they say on the tin - good quality scope, robust, brilliant glass and twilight factor, adjustable illumination, mine do get a bit of a pounding, but they are faultless.

I have paid the higher price for Swarovski, no need, save your money, for Schmidt are true value for money and a no frills quality package you can get a zenith for 1350 if you look around, not cheap but quality, you wouldn't be looking to replace one, once you've got it.

Swaro seem to be riding a price hike for cosmetic looks at the moment, undermining the quality of the product, for the "in scope to have", I changed to Schmidt from Swarovski a while ago and won't be going back.

I have Swarovski on 2 of mine love them but a has been pointed out s&b are good so try a couple and see what you think. imo the best of the lot is the 8x50 fixed power swaro but that's just my opinion you must make up your own mind on what you like.

I have 2 S&B zeniths and as others have said quality scopes. I saw a comment about 2 year warranties but that's not what my paperwork says. In fact within the warranty you can return the scopes to S&B after 10 years use for a free service and nitrogen refill !

I bought a second hand S&B 3-12x50 for £600 about 6 years ago, fitted and zeroed it and haven't taken the caps off since! Still bang on and clear as crystal.

The 8x56 Swarovski on my .243 is quite simply the best low light piece of glass I've ever looked through. I've shot foxes from a high seat with it when it's been too dark to see where I left my stalking sticks.
I've also shot them at 150-190 yards under moonlight with it.

To be honest though, you should buy whatever gives you the most confidence- the added boost that having your favourite optics up-top gives you is priceless.

this is only for the pm11 line of scopes.

You are right, they give a 10 year warranty on Zenith, Klassic and Hungarian. ...but on parts that wear they only give 3 years.

Friend of mine is a bit miffed as he bought an expensive PMII and has bits falling off inside. Scope is only maybe 4 years old.

Normally S&B are very good.
As a hunting scope I prefer the glass on a Kaps over S&B.

Edi,

I found out the hard way and was one of the first to make it public after talking to the Schmidt rep last year.

I was quoted £200 for schmidt to diagnose my fault.

I have 3 S&B scopes and one Swarovski. Where I stalk the deer are late coming out and the Swarovski gives me an extra 15 minutes over the S & B.
I have a Z4i which suits me perfectly and it is my intention to change the S & B scopes to Swarovski as funds allow.

As an aside I bought Swarovski binos to give me better light gathering and they gave me better picture than the S&B. Changed to Swarovski scope and then got hold of some zeiss night owl binos which give me better pic than the swarovski scope!
Best advice is to try them both and see which you prefer

if only there was a scope hire business where for a tiny amount of ££ and a hefty deposit you could rent all the top glass for back to back field trials then pick the one that worked best for you.
instead we have to go by word of mouth and conflicting recommendations

I have 2 S&B Zeniths and cannot fault them, bought a pair of swaro 8x42 EL Range and while they are good they can't compete with the Zeniths at last light, needless to say I won't be swapping them for swaro's anytime soon.

Also the eyepiece on the z6i looks like Dr Spocks bell end...not a good look in my opinion so I have S&B x2 and zeiss diavari x1
