Hi, getting a 22-250 for foxing. Looking for recommendations for a scope for daylight foxing. Barrel is 24”. 1:14 twist. 50g bullets or lighter.
Mainly shoot from 100 to 200yds..up to 300yds occasionally. Thanks.

Frank ....
If you are shooting 100-200yds then why a 22-250 ?
You are posting an awful lot about this.

Foxing is primarily a night vision application.

Personally, I would favour a variable mag scope with a FFP reticle - and preferable parallax (largely to futureproof against the inevitable step to NV). Something in the 3-12, 4-16 range - depending the mag you prefer to shoot at at those ranges. Then it's down to budget. I would point very strongly at the Meopta's on sale at OPW just now as being excellent value for money (albeit most are SFP)

Hi, I have a Sako S491 in .223 with NV scope for night shooting foxes. I use my stalking rifle…243 for daylight foxes on occasion on 2 permissions. I
would like a dedicated rifle for daytime foxing and like the flat trajectory and reach of the 22-250. May swap them over and use the .223 for daytime…not sure.
I reload and like the challenge of a new cartridge and working up loads. I have been asking a few questions on here and thanks to the advice have settled on a new gun, rather than used. The next item is a suitable scope….hence the thread. Looking at 3-9x40 but open to advice on that.

Thank you..I’ll have a look at the Meopta.

Hawke Frontier 2.5 to whatever it is or a Nightforce NXS 3.5-15 - that way you will be covered for a Pard 007 when you ultimately want NV.

I use a Pard on a 3.5 Nightforce but by the sound of it the Hawke would be better (and the vantage I have on my .22 and .17 certainly are).

If you are in Scotland - you will want NV compatible when November comes around 😉

I have a Sako .223 with the HIKMICRO Alpex for night time👍

Stick a Delta Titanium 2.5-15 x56 on your .223, use a Ludicrous Lumens or Pard007 behind that, and shoot foxes day & night out to 300 yards with the same rifle :tiphat:.
I think you mentioned a .220 Swift instead of the .22-250, stick with the .22-250 ammo & brass easily available, not quite so for the Swift, although the Swift has the style

Hi, My RFD suggested the Swift but cases are 3 times expensive as the 22_250! And there are not many of them around. Thanks.

Yes, I shoot a Swift at times, an awesome rifle, but the 22-250 does the same thing, it's just that the 250 is the Katie Price of foxing calibers.

without wanting to start a new thread for same subject,

I am also looking to get a decent scope for a 22-250 I will be purchasing in a couple of months time Sako 75 👍

I have a budget of £900 been looking at the Delta Titanium HD 2.5-15 with either a 50 or 56mm objective is there any others to look at for that kind of budget
Steiner, Hawke Frontier 30?
