scope mounting problem,

so today i mounted my new ziess conquest V4 i did it at home and set the eye relief to where suited and thought it was perfect, went out to zero it and on X6 power it was fine, but opened up to full power X24 and on a tripod and rear bag, rear end up lust a little and i found i had to move my head a good couple of inches forward which was a bit of a problem as i have a tikka t3x super varmint with the adjustable cheek rest so i was hanging off the front of that and it was rather unconfutable, im guessing all i can do is loosen it off and slide it back a bit, whats the best power to set it at on a 6-25 scope,

thanks.

You need to experiment and see what suits your eyes/head position. Unfortunately large zoom ranfes can affect eye relief somewhat depending on the scope design.

On max magnification the exit pupil image size will be the smallest so you eye will need to be lined up most accurately. On the lower magnifications the exit pupil will be larger so more margin for error with where your eye needs to be.

As @Ttocs says, adjust the scope position on the max mag so you can see all the image and no tunneling around the edges then when you zoom out you'll still get all the image and be in the the right place.

Good advice above about setting the scope on max mag .
The eye relief is quite good on the V4. Mine are set at max mag and I get a full image at all magnifications without having to move my cheek position.

One further tip:

a. Unless you intend doing all your shooting prone or at a bench, set scope eye relief from a standing or seated position with the rifle supported on sticks.
b. When bringing the rifle into aim keep both eyes closed until you’re comfortable with your head to stock position.
c. Open aiming eye and adjust scope position relative to retained cheek weld.
