Scope options for 300-1000 yard target shooting?

Hi,

I’m looking for a good scope for use on a .308. Not for stalking, only target use.

I know there are lots of newish brands that are now offering very good optics such as Vortex, Delta, Sightron, Athlon etc so looking for some recommendations please.

This could be used for PRS shooting at some point so it would need to be in FFP and have mils and be good enough to have accurate repeatable tracking.

I’m looking to spend around a grand and happy to buy second hand if that gets me more glass for my money.

Thanks all.

Danny.

The Arken 7-35 is exceptional value for what it provides - and well within your budget. I remain of the opinion that buying better glass secondhand (at the same money) is the way forward, but the gap is definitely closing.
I'd recommend something like an IOR Recon as a S/H option. Rare, but worth every penny.

I read that the Arken gen ii has a very unforgiving eye box, so I’m leaning more towards the Delta.

I've got an IOR which I rate highly. Its SFP and MOA but they do options that meet your requirements. When I change it I will make sure I get a scope with 1/8 MOA clicks instead of the 1/4 MOA I have at the moment. Not sure how that translates to mils but something to keep in mind.

Nightforce seem to be a popular option at the more wallet friendly end of F-Class.

I’ve personally shot a Vortex Strike Eagle 5-25x56 FFP out to 1000 yds with .308.

Very capable scope, used for about £550.

You don’t need ultra clear glass of a NightForce or S&B if you’re only shooting in good light, target shooting
