Scoping an 8mm Yugo Mauser

Hi W.
i have a Swift 4x32 on the M48 which I bought as a cheapie in the US. I have a better scope NcStar 2-7x32E - again bought in the US.
Both are good for 200 plus and transform the use of these great rifles - especially for elderly eyes….

FB....could you not simple use it with a pistol scope in the field?

Yep - love to but currently range only, sadly. I have no doubts about accuracy but if shooting a deer I would be much happier with better glass.
Might try it on a roe target this weekend at the range out to 200.

I honestly thought that my hesitation to shoot live quarry with a scout-mounted scope would prompt a response from our SD pals Out West - one in particular who has been notably absent of late….

I hope he is ok.
AB as well.
MarinePM is still about.

I noticed S62 has gone quiet. Must of upset the Mrs again I guess.

Indeed - pearls of wisdom have been thin on the SD ground of late, apart from our your own of course!
I reckon S1962 has finally won something and is still in a shock-induced catatonic state……

There you go…

Hi Foxyboy43, I checked out this with the supplier who was kind enough to check a few things which concerned me as this is a pistol scope for shorter range shooting and parallax free at 35yards. I wanted to know if it would still focus ok out to the 100-200yards targets where I shoot. This was the reply which may be helpful to others:-

PAO Topaz 2-7x32 LER Pistol Scope

I have now been able to look through one of the scopes and unfortunately I don't think it would be suitable at the 100-200 yard distance.
We have a church approximately 90 yards from our warehouse and at 2x mag you can see the clock tower, although due to the smaller objective lenses, the view is not very big.
On a 7x mag, while you can focus in on aspects of the church, it is a little fuzzy.
We have a couple of buildings at the 120 yards and on the all magnifications they were a little fuzzy so I would have thought that at the 200 yard distance it would have been worse.

Consequently, I have looked at the few other limited options available in the UK and ordered a Vortex 2 Crossfire Scout Scope 2-7x32 and will post how I get on when it arrives!

Incidently, I did contact Optics Warehouse in the US about the NC Star scope you have but they cant send it to the UK.

Good call but a bit disappointing!
I look forward to hearing how you get on with a dedicated Scout Scope - hopefully it will transform your shooting, though be warned - deer beckon……
