Wanted: Scotland family hunt 2026

Hey everyone. Used the search lots and I think I have some good names down. But figured best to ask recommendations and advice for planning a family trip in 2026

Originally we've been thinking of an African Safari, but starting to lean into the idea of a proper red stag hunt in Scotland. I hunted Zimbabwe in 2018, and I don't think my dad would do great on all the flights.

Would be myself, father, brother and his son 14.

Looking for the classic hunt. Not looking for crazy trophy's just good representatives. I'm sure my dad and nephew would be more observers, but if opportunity arose for them to take something too.

Mainly interested in red stag. But bonus's for bird shooting/sika/roe deer.

Would love to stay on an estate and Just looking for some well established names that fit the bill above. And try and book before it fills up for next year. Thinking July/August but I know times of years play into different seasons. Highland and some forestry would be nice.

If it's traditional Scottish red stag stalking on the hill you are after then it won't be a 'crazy trophy' it will be mature stag with a poor head (antlers.) You might get a bigger head in the forestry lower down.

They will still be in velvet in July and August and some estates will not start on the stags until 1st September or thereabouts. The rut is October.

You could try @sgurrdamh on here (send Sam a DM), Head Stalker on Kildermorrie estate who have red, sika, roe and open hill and forestry. They also use garrons (traditional ponies) for extraction which would give you the full, authentic experience.

Failing that try the likes of (click on text to link) Deer Stalking | Dalhousie Estates or Deer & Stag Stalking Breaks in Perthshire | Atholl Estates or, an agent who handles more stags than most in Highlands is Cara at International Hunting Scotland | Home

Best of luck
