Can I legally scrap a old 22rf myself that is on my ticket ie cut it into small bits with my disc cutter and take it to a police station?

You don't need to cut it up. I took one to local station here in Cornwall. They de register it off your certificate and dispose of it for you.

As above - wife’s elderly aunts shotgun certificate expired. As she still had one gun on the ticket- FEO rang me and I dropped it into local police station, they gave me a receipt for it.
