"Surveys" are designed to gauge public opinion on proposals that they already want to bring in. If the survey supports the proposals, they forge ahead and make it happen. If the survey doesn't garner the support they want, the usual policy is to wait maybe six months until the furore dies down, then implement anyway, when everyone is resigned that it's happening, they told us ages ago....Notwithstanding the laudable aims of this 'survey' - If you are 'directing' those whose opinions you seek, then it is hardly a survey - it becomes a petition.
It does not matter up here. They do what they want . That shower snp. Look at the air gun nonsense everyone against it passed flying colours. It matters not if you fill it in or not, they pay zero heed to it . God look at queen Nicky just now , 600k missing , 110k motorhome found in mother in law garden , police seized it. Corruption not the word for it. I personally believe that if it’s a snp bill it will pass , with that guy that hates everyone that’s white. That’s the sad state of affairs up here , blame the snp supporters!
Conor, I'm sure there are more who have completed the survey and not said so on here....including me.Thanks to the 27 SD members that have posted that they have completed the survey so far. Further updates would be great to keep momentum going!
Thanks for completing the survey nonetheless - for what it's worth I do believe it counts - and we need to encourage more and more people to get involved in these consultations each and every time.@Conor O'Gorman sadly I think the issue is that you can do as much lobbying as you want in the Scottish Parliament (assembly) but until there is a second chamber where the whims of the SNP/Greens and fringe groups they operate with to pursue their agendas we are collectively wasting our time.
The only way to deal with this, as demonstrated with the recent referendum request and gender bill is for the U.K. Gov to step in.
Since this won’t affect he RUK it leaves you with one option and that is to challenge it in court, and by challenge you, or rather the groups and people who this effects, need to club together and go tonto with a campaign to get the scientific truth out there which is largely ignored in the shortbread senate, and take them to court about it - and there is a good chance you will win, but it will cost money, a lot of it.
Frankly this should have been done a long time ago on legislation previously and just passed, it would have put a lot of people back in their boxes. The only SNP MSP that fieldsports and rural industry has a chance with is Fergus Ewing and he is continually drowned out which is a real shame as he is the only one worth their salary in that respect.
I cannot understand why everyone with vested interests allow themselves to be dragged this far down the line before trying to climb the mountain. Anyone who thinks the joke at the bottom of the Royal Mile will do anything in the interests of the countryside with the current incumbents is deluded but hopefully their tenure is going to come to an end shortly - undoubtedly in the criminal court for some.
I think some lobbying to have the Royal Assent removed from a particular bird charity would be a good start, particularly since the king happens to like grouse shooting.
They have attacked us on all fronts with little recourse for years and have been allowed to by giving a little so they won’t take more. Next is snaring (which will undoubtedly doubt go), then it will be fishing, licences for stalking etc etc.
The Greens, SNP and mates in the anti groups are ****ing themselves laughing at us because they can do all of this with little effort. Waste landowners time resources to do surveys and then ignore the outcome to fit an agenda and pass legislation - Mountain Hare Protection bill being passed ring any bells.
Anyway now I’ve got that off my chest I’ve done this as I have with every other one for the SGA etc which are given lip service by the ‘Scottish Government’. Tony B’liar has a lot to answer for - and breathe……
no answer to my question earlier conor? Thanks for completing the survey nonetheless - for what it's worth I do believe it counts - and we need to encourage more and more people to get involved in these consultations each and every time.
no answer to my question earlier conor?
i dont think much should be banned outright. i see them as a very effective tool. they just need to be checked and used approptiatly.I see them as cruel personally so i would not want to use one
Do you think they are ok Shakey ?
i dont think much should be banned outright. i see them as a very effective tool. they just need to be checked and used approptiatly.
i dont think or cant remember ever using them but i wont say i wouldnt use them.
im just suprised basc wont support a legal tool
live catch traps cause cruelty and distress. so much of what we do does or could do the same.I would hope that they move away from things though that cause cruelty and distress ?
I know its probably a can of worms and so many people will have different views
A couple of years ago i felt i could not support a GWCT auction because it promoted Foie Gras - after discussion it was also established the meal was farmed salmon - fair play to the organisation but they knocked that on the head - if you pardon the pun.

make them licensed. but banning is a mistake
