Sika deer bullet in 6ppc

Im sure if you can have the barrell lenght and can get the sppeds up you can make it work but is a bigger rifle an option ? Ive found Sika take a bullet better than any other species, certainly like to error on the side of bigger is better

They're great - one of the original turned copper bullets and still up there with the best. I have a few hundred which should last me years.
A friend and rifle builder used them for 10 years I think

Same as you, said they were tremendous.

I emailed Johan and he said he couldn’t get them made to spec anymore in the uk

Not sure of legal weights in uk
70gr Blitzkings in Sako .243 ammunition is working extremely well for me on Sika
The only change I make at times is to the 90gr Gamehead pros on rutting stags
I will say,placement is everything
High neck to atlas joint drop in their shadow or well forward into the heart area
Yes they run a little bit but they’re not bulletproof

Am sure someone will shout me down but…

As soon as I saw Sika & 6PPC in the same sentence I wondered if the OP has a good dog?!

Having had a few seasons shooting the buggers in the New Forest with a 308W & 150gn Nosler BTs I would not want to use anything smaller, let’s just leave it at that!

Anyone using the 6ppc for larger deer? What would be the best bullet weight and loading?
I think you’ll struggle with a 6ppc & 1:12 rifle. If your intention is to use this on larger deer, I’d seriously consider a calibre which isn’t “borderline” in it's ability to carry out the job.

At the risk of stating the obvious, shot placement is a key consideration in the use of the 6PPC. That the round is inherently accurate and 'sweet' to shoot from even the most sensitive of recoil-shy shoulders makes it a prime candidate for the shot that shall remain nameless but Game Dealers have wet dreams over!

308W is equally good at that type of shot - would post a pick but it’d probably put a few people off their supper, not to mention cause a queue for the outrage bus 😝
