Well it’s a very much down to the shooter. We are very aware of the cost of ammo (buy allot ourselves so know the pain), so we try not to force people into a situation where they feel obligated to blat away their entire stock/wallet.
So minimum would be something like 1-3 rounds to check zero and prove to me you can meet a certain standard (think DSC 1 target size at 100). 3-5 rounds practicing shooting off sticks and practicing mounting and various distances. 8-10 rounds doing the sim stalk routes. So in summary about a box of 20 really.
At the end of the day the guys or girls get the option to use the range out to 300 or maybe 350 depending on weather. Sometimes it’s 250 due to weather, which I am afraid can’t be controlled. This element is optional and sometimes guys just enjoy spotting for other shooters. Most people take an amount of ammo with them and use this time to check their drops, test their scope turrets or have a play.
If there are misses etc I do encourage guys to try again after a quick discussion and bit of feedback where possible. I don’t like anyone leaving with a confidence hole in their ability or kit where possible you see.
All of our sim stalking routes are designed to put people through real world shooting situations. So we talk about and do follow up shots on deer at increasing distances, snap shots on suddenly appearing second deer, humane dispatch at closer range, longer range shooting, improvised bipods, improvised shooting rests and most importantly safe shooting and getting into a position for a safe backstop.
Sorry long answer, but in summary expect to use a box and anything more than that is user choice.

a WhatsApp group will be created a few weeks before your date so that you can get info passed to you about kit and timings etc. Also let’s you meet the other guys/girls in a sense (virtually) before the day.
We also keep these groups live for ever in case guys want to contact other course members again to swap shooting days or discuss kit. There is a few running now and I answer questions on kit and anything else stalking related where I can for guys.
Obviously you don’t need to join the group or stay in it
