At the last count, there were 50+ in the garden at one time............the local sparrowhawk drops in from time to time, but it's incredible how fast these little guys can disappear.
We haven't seen her score yet, and even the local cats are way too slow for the ground feeders.

Siskins feed on the seed-cones in the Alder trees, making thin,sweet murmurs.

Used to see loads in my garden in Shoreham, Kent, don’t see any in Burwash, Sussex. (Sure it’s the local habitat rather than anything sinister)

That rings true as I recall hearing and seeing them across the Ridge when undertaking lookout duties at Shoreham Range back in the 1980's.

For the last couple of weeks we’ve had at least two or three pairs arrive on the feeders, unfortunately there’s a pair of Sparrow Hawks around keeping them away along with the other birds.

These were all Siskins that visted my feeders 2 years ago. Had nothing last year then this week I've had the odd pair. Absolute pleasure to see them.

Not the same thread but interesting to me today, built up area wife heard some buzzards over head 3, as we were in a carpark I grabbed the Swaro bins out of the car to pick up a Peregrine falcon over the top of the Buzzards.
