Slings, slinging, slung!

Understand the problem you are trying to fix. I have two Z Aims and have modified both of them, I changed the cord that goes round the pistol grip/thumbhole for a simple clip release using plastic side release buckle clips and 20mm webbing all off Amazon. Less obtrusive around the pistol grip plus you can easily unclip it from the rifle and put that bit in your pocket when you are going to shoot
Again, a picture says a thousand words. But only if you have the time please.

Thanks N3al that looks exactly what I’m looking for! Cheers!

i have one of these in my pile of kit I have been meaning to put on eBay if you’re interested. It is excellent for use as intended, stood at peg on driven hunt and would work for front carry as you are looking for, if you have a short rifle. I bought it last year as I wanted to carry it on my front likekeeping hands free to scramble about.

It works ok in that use But hangs too low for my liking. I have a pro hunter with four butt extension sections and a 24” barrel with mod and the muzzle hangs too far down for me. If I had a shorter rifle it would be great as you can let rifle hang from your shoulder/ armpit straight down whilst you use binos.

i would Sell it as I bought a Niggeloh Rucksack type sling which suits my purposes. Only used on a couple of outings and I still have the packaging with the instructions if you are interested.

If he doesn't want it I might be interested.

Simple laws of physics: wide spreads the load a bit too much, if you don't want the rifle to move about when you walk.
Try a Citroen 2cv and a Ferrari in snow, the lemon will trounce the prancing pony, by virtue of the narrowness of the tyres - more grip.

Wide might be fine if grippy, but many seen on the market aren't grippy enough relative to their weight, then you have a comfy carried weight sliding all about you. Some of the deluxe niggeloh slings come to mind in this respect, they look lovely, but if you are actually carrying your rifle some distance on your shoulder, they are not what I'd go for.

Personally I tend toward lighter weight but sound kit, because of the terrain type and distances I go; if a 3-3,5kilo setup gets the job done, I don't personally feel the need to be carrying the extra weight. The profile up close on the sling I made is of a great surface area, micro checkering if you like, but dimples as shown below work pretty much every bit as well:

Because I'm carrying my roe sack, binoculars etc too, I prefer the 'multi purpose' shoulder area not to be unnecessarily encumbered by extra width I don't need. As ever, everyone has their own preferences; a 1" or so grippy sling that doesn't let the rifle move is mine, and if wide works well with you, then that's also fine.
And most shoulders are slopey!

I’m interested! Can you ping me a pm?

The Safari Sling is great. I use it all the time with the .303. You can distribute the weight across both shoulders if you need to, muzzle up or down, no hands an all this with an automatic release of the stock when bringing the rifle quickly to the shoulder. Here's the link to the video.

Please see picture, all I have done is kept the main clip that attaches to the “Third anchor “ on the ZAim that Goes on your chest but replaced the single cord they supply to go round the pistol grip/thumb hole with a small quick release. This way you can quickly take the “third leg” of the sling off the rifle quickly and stow it in your pocket either when you get close to a shot or if you don’t need it once you are getting ready for the shot standing or laying down

Try a GUNSLINGER CORRAL. used one and still have it, as described it is a waist belt with attachment to support the grip of your rifle with a release press stud to shoulder your rifle when ready, it gives you a hands free shouldered rifle.

Ive just got a niggleoh and first impressions are it feels very comfortable with little room for falling off shoulders. Not seen many reviews of them so will feed back any pros or cons

Just ordered one of these, $80 delivered. I’ll let you know if it’s any good, that said it looks good on YouTube.

Buttons etc make unslinging too hard. A slim grippy sling works well. I use an 'ultimate sling' which is 100% rubber. It is quite stretchy so lighter rifle is best

My jacket is slippery.... very practical, waterproof, soft, quite, truly breathable, but infuriating because nothing ever stays in place. I have the niggeloh backpack sling on one rifle, but that has side mounted swivel studs so lies flat on your back. I needed to use a conventional sling the other day so have simply glued a three inch strip of velcro (the "hook" side) onto the jacket using fabric glue. Tested it this morning. Works beautifully, and quick to unsling.
