Snares to be banned in England ?

We've just had an example of this sort of driving,2 kids racing around single width roads at high speed. Came around a corner and met a very large John Deere with a corn trailer attached estate worker in the tractor reckons they're better drivers than him because they got the BMW stopped before kissing the front weights.
Quite a long reversal till a passing place then on their way.

Plenty haven’t been so lucky. There was a car load of kids that went into a brick wall down in East Lothian a few years ago. 3 dead, one in a wheel chair for life.

Edit: the driver wasn’t put in a wheelchair, but he was underage at the time, and clearly has had a lot of difficulties since. Recently convicted of drink driving.

I had a dog caught in a snare. If I hadn’t been right there and seen it happen, I would have lost her, once the snare tightened, it did exactly what it was designed to do and throttled her in very short order. No noise, and she was limp in moments.
It wasn’t easy to get her released either, despite being virtually unconscious. Thanks Mr. Leatherman.
Snare’s are kill traps, they have no place anywhere that the public has access regardless of whether or not they should be there. Dogs don’t read and an alarming proportion of the human population suffers from a similar lack of awareness.
That includes people who deliberately go setting snares in areas where they know that there’s a problem with public access.
Don’t do it. It’s not an argument that you can win.

Tell me about it. The silly reversing season is upon us here in Devon! Some of the efforts are really unbelievable!

On that note, I watched a pickerup attempt to reverse on a grouse moor, nothing for miles around and still managed to &%ck it up, a month later they managed to hit the headkeeper pickup which was parked in the middle of a field with no other vehicles

Certainly not a code compliant snare, modern snares or humane cable restraint if you're that way inclined are certainly not designed to kill, they are designed to hold. They are easy to release as well, could it be that someone with little knowledge just set a wire loop type snare that your dog unfortunately got caught in?

It was a while ago, I know who set it. The snare was set on the edge of a ditch.The dog got caught and fell down into the ditch pulling the snare tight. She twisted and fought like a tiger until she blacked out and the snare was buried into her.
That’s exactly the result you’d want with a fox , it’s not so great with a non targeted animal.

Our farm is at the top of a hill (hill by Nottinghamshire standards) the amount of times I've had to reverse back up the hill because someone in a micra/punto shitș their pants meeting me on the bend & doesn't know what to do. Pathetic really.

One arrogant family lives in our village and they expect everyone else to reverse.
