Spades and stalking

As i have 3 terriers and normally stalk with two i always have a spade in the car. Because of the area i stalk the graloch is removed with the Roe Deer. I am just glad we don't have reds or sika on our ground . Burying the graloch is not an option were i stalk and i got a bollocking of my mate for doing it.

It might take a bit longer but on a training course I did years ago on woodland stalking. The course was called :-

"The Woodland Deer Stalking Appreciation Course"

and was held in Hampshire, in the Test Valley as I recall, the chap running the show suggested one always carry a trowel for burying such things. I still have the Blue steel trowel I brought back then although a lot of the blue paint has come off now from use in the garden. Of course DSC did not exist then. There was it's fore runner but it was not the course I took I did this course to learn more for myself and still have the notes.

I carry a full sized spade at all times when stalking not just to allow me to comply with best practise in disposing of the gralloch but also because it provides a useful and steady shooting rest. It was ideal when I did my DSC1 shooting test though at first they were a bit reluctant to accept that it was something I always had with me in the course of my normal stalking activities. I attach it to my belt beside my emergency inflatable liferaft which is always with me in case of sudden flooding.

Do any other members of this site make it a habit to carry an Anderson Shelter with them when stalking in case of an outbreak of carpet bombing?

Nope, but they got a little upset when I carried a car door onto the range at my DSC test :coat:
