Speeding and wrong info = FAC Revocation and Seizure

Personally, I fill out the form as requested and ignore the 3 points I received ages ago for going a bit quick on a motorway, on the grounds that that’s what the form says to do. I also do not disclose a speed awareness course, as there’s no requirement to.

As to fitness to possess firearms, I don’t see how complying exactly with requirements should indicate anything adverse about my character.
AS I said earlier fixed penalty notices and dont have to be declared it do say that on the form if you go on a speed awareness course that is not classed as a conviction
But maybe it's a good thing to put it down as he Beng honest

My answer to the requests for info is, As data protection.

I know of two people here who were jailed and both have SGC and FAC.
One assaulted a cop.
the other did time for armed robbery.
Both historic and both serial poachers.

This is one of those threads that has diverged from the OP and has become an argument regarding the rights and wrongs of modern UK speed limits.

Whether you think UK limits are right-and-proper, or whether you believe they are outdated, is entirely irrelevant to the case in hand. The limits are the limits in the eyes of the law and the gentleman in question has transgressed them. Repeatedly.

The fact that the written reasons state "convictions" for speeding in 2006 and 2014 implies to me that those transgressions were not minor (for them to be listed as convictions one assumes that they resulted in court attendance rather than being dealt with by way of FPN?). Couple that with allegations from 2018 concerning (more) speeding and threatening-and-abusive behaviour when challenged plus a further (one assumes ongoing?) case of speeding from this past summer then there is, as quite rightly stated, a pattern of behaviour becoming apparent. A pattern that may indicate a certain laissez-faire attitude towards regulation / authority. An pattern that is not conducive to the Chief Officer thinking you are a suitable person for holding a Certificate.

We all know the rules. He knowingly broke them and got caught out. My sympathy is very limited.

As an aside, and on a personal note, I find the number of people claiming here that "100mph (or 96mph before the pedants get themselves worked up) is easily attainable if you are not paying attention" simply astounding. Not realising that you are doing basically 140% of the national speed limit on ANY road is, pretty much by definition, driving without due care and attention. And if you are not paying attention then you have no right doing those sort of speeds....

Much of this is about perceptions.

If you interact with the PSNI for instance (in any capacity) you are already experiencing an "armed response".

Ditto most Countries in Europe and indeed, the rest of the world.

There is a world of difference between attending an address as an 'armed officer' and carrying out a dynamic entry with an SFO team.

Armed Policing - a whole new thread...
Interestingly the only two guys I know who had this experience were both telephoned and told to bring their guns to the local station. One of them was a serving officer who had forgotten to renew his FAC. He got them back with a written warning about not being a fit and proper person and if a repeat occurred he would not get a regrant!
The other is still “in Purdah” - long story……

I can’t be bothered watching all of that ear cringing moaning video.

However I understand he did not declare a 100mph speeding conviction. The maximum speed which is dealt with by fixed penalty is 96mph. 100mph is more than 96mph. Therefore he went to court and was convicted.

You must declare that. You don’t have to declare FPNs. He will have had his certificate revoked by hiding this as much as the offence itself.

Convictions and offences

You must not withhold information about any conviction.

This includes motoring offences (including speeding offences), bindovers, formal written cautions and convictions in and outside Great Britain, and (by virtue of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975) convictions which are spent under the 1974 Act.

A conditional discharge and an absolute discharge both count as convictions for this purpose.

Details of parking offences and fixed penalty notices do not need to be declared.

Section 21 of the Firearms Act 1968 places restrictions on the possession of firearms and ammunition by those previously convicted of crime.

A person receiving a sentence of imprisonment of three months or more is prohibited from possessing a firearm, shotgun, antique firearm, air weapon or ammunition for five years from the date of their release.

In the case of a suspended sentence the prohibition applies from the second day after being sentenced.

If the sentence is three years or more the prohibition applies for life unless lifted by the Crown (or Sheriff) Court.

if your unsure of any previous convictions there is a website called nacro which will give you a print out takes 3/4 weeks

From my point of view he done a big 'Oopsie!' And is now unhappy at the results of his actions... only has himself to blame?
The way the Police and FEO will view it is a blatant disregard for the law... we all do, or have broken the speed limits but by 30mph is pushing a 'reasonable' amount worthy of just a fine and points.
So If you're going to do it 🏍💨💨 ... don't get caught! 🤣

A genuine question - if you can’t remember previous convictions, is there a way that you can contact the police or FEO and ask for a print out or something??

@bobthedog @Stalker1962 may know?

Sorry if this has been mentioned before, i haven't read all the pages.

DO THIS,
Its Free!
It should include ALL DATA held about you by the Police. Including convictions / allegations / transcripts / CCTV footage / body worn camera footage / emails etc
They wont like doing it and will try to delay as much as possible.
If asked why you want this information, you reply "Because the law says I am entitled to it"
You do not have to jump through their hoops to get this data. You simply have to put the request in writing and prove who you are( copy of ID etc)

100 is as safe as any other speed if the conditions allow it.

, driving too fast does not mean you were breaking a speed limit
Hi Rake. Forgive me if I a wrong, but you seem to be sharing your views on some academic debate about speed, and if this was a formula 1 thread, it might be relevant.

However the OP was about a guy who's repeatedly broken the law and lost his ticket (and IMHO, it doesn't surprise me).

There is a chance that your posts might be interpreted as if you are condoning speeding, i.e. breaking the law is ok if you think the conditions are ok.

A very dodgy place to be, especially if you have a FAC.

Never been above the speed limit then? 🙄
Oh look, up there! A straw man argument in all its glory.

Of course I've been over the speed limit. But not 'accidentally' by a margin of almost half the legal national speed limit.

To put it in the context of this site, what would your opinion be of a shooter who admitted that for (roughly) every two intentional rounds fired he negligently discharged another?

I’m now $hi**ing myself.
I had a renewal and new grant in September, but I only put down my current 3 points.
I have been done for speeding, picking up my phone (wife in labour- no excuse) a couple of times in the past, but all dealt with by fixed fine and points- long long expired.
I thought these were classed as fixed Penalty and not relevant to application, I only put the 3 points which appear on my current electronic driving record now (that’s all that shows on there)
I even showed the Mrs who is a copper and even she is confused by the terminology!
I didn’t even have an interview for the renewal or new grant so didn’t even talk to the FEO about it.
With all of the recent ruptions going on of police going back through records, one part of me says write a courtesy email explaining, the other part says leave it as all of the previous offences will have been detailed on the relevant application forms for renewals in the past.

What do you guys think??
