I have a pair Meindl Island boots some 10 years old coming to the end of their days. I bought a pair of Zamberlan GTX last autumn. So far so good, no complaints. From the start they were comfortable to wear, 100% waterproof and the grip from the soles is remarkable.

You’ve had a pair of Meindl boots for 10 years and you’ve replaced them with a different make. Didn’t they last long enough?

Sure the boots have lasted. They’ve been dry weather boots the last few years. =reports of the failures of Meindl boots made now would be enough to put most people off buying them don you think ?
Zamberlan were in the shop. They’ve had good reviews. They no longer stock Meindl.

I have got a pair of Altberg Defender boots without the waterproof lining.
If you look after and wax them regularly they are completely waterproof anyways.

very comfortable and breathable!
If you need taller boot then they have other options or just get gaiters.

Mine are from army surplus for £60
certainly will last and be comfortable.

I’ve had my Meindl Dovre Extreme for about 7 years and they’ve still got a bit more life in them, last year I bought the short ones which are great, both pairs have the Vibram soles. Some of the articles seem to refer to the sole being changed to a Meindl sole, I must have been lucky with the short boots. I‘ve been looking around for new long boots and seen the Zamberlan but they didn’t feel that comfortable when I tried them, a mate has them and he’s happy with them.
I‘ll start looking at alternatives.

I don’t think you can go far wrong with the Meindl Dovre Extreme, mine have been going strong for years.
