I got some seeland zip up neoprene wellies, they went back to John Norris after 3 weeks. They both leaked through the zips?! A friend has the seeland non zip up neoprene and he likes them.

I have a pair of non-zip neoprene seelands and they are great for wandering around clay and pheasant shoots but pants for the hill. Just my opinion.

Meindl Dovre Extreme is my choice, didn't need breaking in and were comfortable from day 1 - won't hesitate in getting another pair if and when my current pair finally give up the ghost...

see no-one has mentioned hanwag boots, maybe not many people have tried them. brilliant in my opinion, apparently used by special forces. ive had the alaska and trapper gtx (higher leg) both been great if looked after and dont allow the leather to dry out. had 2 and a half years almost constant use out of one pair and into a year and a half with current pair.

Agree 100% you carn't go wrong with these boots, not cheap but well worth the investment.

Meidl Dovre Extreme. They are one of those purchases that I have never questioned myself if they were worth the £230 price tag.

i have to agree with this 100%. i also use lowa mountain combat GTX another excellent boot worn everyday last me twelve months before sole wears out or splits. Dovres they are just mega.

Altbergs.

I've worn mendil, lowa, issue boots, Danner, matterhorn and all kinds of supposedly indestructible boots. All have failed me except Altbergs. They were my only choice of boot in the army (most other's too). I've used them in Iraq and other rock infested, scree covered ***** holes.
I'll back up Deerman's claim that made to measure service is free. It was common practice for us to even draw around our own feet onto cardboard, post back to the Mrs and have her order from the factory in Yorkshire. Some guys visited the factory but I never bothered, however service men were always made welcome.
For those who claim them go be uncomfortable. Have you ever actually had your feet professionally fit? No offense, but there's alot more to it than just the length and width of your feet. Especially when you expect them to perform faultless under extreme conditions. A quality service will include instep shape, arch height and position, foot height, toe shapes (seriously - like some people have a longer toe than that of the big toe, etc).
Lastly, regardless what type you buy, care for the bloody things. Regularly check the stitching and eyelets, wax them and consider it a regular part of maintenance. Wax your boots when you clean your rifle (assuming you do clean it) and forget about polishes. You want the leather protected, kept supple and avoid them drying out; not glossy.

Lowa Mountain GTX. Never had Cold or Wet Feet in these even in Perthshire Snow or Driving Rain. As Comfy as my favourite Slippers too.

Yorkie.

Well I collect my new Meindl Dovre Extreme boots on Saturday.....they look really well made ......I just hope wet feet a thing of the past
