Stalking jumpers

Just thought I'd post about my latest idea for kit which arrived today. I'm a big fan of both wool and British firms/British made kit.

We were in Guernsey recently visiting friends and paid one of the companies that makes Guernseys a visit. I was after something green and thought they only had bottle and olive options but when there found they had a loden yarn too. Turns out Guernsey Woollens are happy to sell standard or make customised kit- I ordered one with longer sleeves and extra length in the body for a few quid more than a standard one so it's a bit like a smock in some regards. They can also do thumb loops, roll necks (wish I'd gone for those) and probably more that I'm not aware of. I'm really looking forward to using this stalking/generally out and about/wearing it into the ground and thought it might be of interest to others.

The wool they source is British and Australian which was a minus point for me (sorry JG!) as I'd prefer to know it's British Wool, but I've otherwise been pleased so far. It's cheaper if you get it whilst visiting the Island as there's no VAT there (although you've got the cost of visiting!) and they can potentially make them on short notice if you give them a day or two.

They do woolly hats and other bits as well.

Nice! I like the crew neck in the picture. My wife got me a Swazi merino wool jumper as a present, I used it stalking quite a bit and just generally. I’m a big fan - natural and regulate heat really well.

Im also a big fan of wool. Super warm and insulating with no sweating. A lot of people find it itchy but it doesnt bother me
I manage to get quite warm in wool from time to time so do end up sweating but at least it breathes! Naturally fire retardant also. This one is a tiny but itchy on the neck but if you wear something with a collar that issue goes... Or you can ignore it!

My absolute favourite jumper

I wear a Hoggs of Fife cheap fleece jacket as my “ jumper”when out doing death to animals type stuff though.
