Non of the Paramo stuff I use is noisy albeit I don’t have a smock but have various jackets/trousers/sallopettes and they are all quiet, that’s why they’re popular with twitchers.
I didn’t pay for any of it so have no skin in the game but rate it. Just make sure to use the Nikwax for washing/reproofing.
FWIW their sallopettes are brilliant and have a reinforced arse and knee section which are great for being out on the **** wet hill or snow, the only downside is they don’t come in green but the deer don’t seem to have cared so far. Only ever wear a set of thermal leggings underneath and plenty warm and there is venting. The plastic pop studs can be a bit of a pain but you get used to them.

The Arktis stuff is fantastic. I end up wearing it on the farm which is rough, crappy work, mud, blood, diesel, oil, shite etc etc. Hard wearing clothing and comfortable.
I really rate my Paramo stuff as well. As long as you keep it clean and rewash occasionally with Nikwax TX Direct it works very well. I run warm and find I need almost nothing underneath unless it’s Baltic outside!

Meant to say that if you want anything customised, for example harder wearing material at elbows or pockets, phone hilltrek and they will do whatever you want. They use the same material and same or similar patterns to Paramo and do everything in house and I’ve always found them to be reasonable and they are or were a Paramo dealer/stockist.

It’s noisier than the ‘peach fuzz’ stuff which most people wear, but nowhere near a crispy traditional waterproof. Sound is similar to sleeping bag material or a down jacket.
I think they’re brilliant and have worn them for field sports and mountaineering. I know they’re not everyone’s cup of tea, but I’ve found that no matter what you wear, you will eventually end up soaked either through sweat, rain getting in an opening, or condensation. The paramo is the only clothing that keeps me warm and removes moisture once wet. Loads of mountain rescue wear them and their hill days are generally a bit more demanding than ours!
Also it’s basically just fabric so any repairs or alterations can by done by a normal tailor or your own fair hand.

Not a smock as I like the option to vent more with a full zip. I have the Pajaro, which I think has been superseded by the Halcon, and the two part fuera system for walking/mountaineering which again I think has a new version.

Just checked, the two part system I have is now called the Bentu. It’s a light wind proof jacket and a fleece. Individually they are windproof and water resistant, then worn together they form a full weight paramo waterproof. Worth considering as it gives you good versatility in your clothing.
I've used Paramo stuff since it first came out for a variety of outdoor pursuits and in all sorts of conditions here and abroad. For stalking I use the base and middle layers and Cascada overtrousers. Only reason I don't use one of their outer jackets (have 3, one of which was one of their first jackets) is that my go to jacket is a Laksen Mouflon that I use for most of the year for just about everything. It's going to be a hard one to replace (not made any more) seriously thinking about going for the Halcon.

I beat in mine and haven’t had any problems, I think it’s so soft that everything just glides off. Except barbed wire of course, which is specifically designed to destroy any clothing within 5 miles.
that was my thinking and why I went for Hilltrek - if you buy from their "cotton analogy" line its the paramo internal waterproof liner but the outer layer is 1 layer of ventile cotton... so you get the breathability of the paramo but much more protection in the outer layer. Best of both worlds. I sweat a load when exercising and find this technology keeps me the driest of anything I've had before. Even after a long drag you get loaded up and can feel you are soaked with sweat (just too many laters on!) but 15min later you are back to the larder and feel quite dry. definitely no boil in the bag sensation.
Downside is cost - but I'd say its still good value for me. Advantage is its all hand made so I got longer body/arms to suits my proportions.
