I have their Kincraig trousers, which I really like. No Scotland experience, though.I have Hoggs of Fife stuff for up here in the highlands and proves really well. Im quite a hot tempretured person and get quite sweaty out in the hills. These always keep me warm and dry and seem to get rid of heat in a decent manner also.
Yes - this is what I do. Works perfectly.I haven’t tried it myself but I‘m planning to. A pair of tight fitting and well insulated long johns and an army gore tex over trouser. The idea is that the over trouser will have a very slack fit and therefore be naturally ventilated to some degree while still keep the wet and wind off. This would be for winter conditions and moving about but not sweating excessively. Has anybody tried this?
I can assure you that they are breathable been wearing them for years!they don't look remotely breathable, if your going to get soaking wet from the inside you may as well just get wet in the rain.
once the moisture gets to your skin then it doesn't take much of a breeze at all to chill you to the bone, the ex army route is possibly one to go down but for some reason i feel a bit awkward wearing it.
Absolutely plus having a full length two way zip for ventilation and they are quietI,m with happy stalker on this one, normally wear trousers with a water proof membrane but if theres a lot of crawling in wet conditions
I find that a pair of berghaus waterproof over trousers are great and dont take up much space.
What cloth (outer & lining) do Nomad use for their plus 4’s? It’s not particularly clear on their website.Nomad UK clothing - plus 6’s if you can get a hold of them, - Heather Wright at Nomad is still selling product (at a good discounted rate) following Phillip’s death.
Keepers and hill stalkers don't wear them for nothing!i have a few sets they are great for lowland stuff however i am looking for something waterproof and breathable that remains lightweight when wet something tweed definitely doesn't do!
They wear them because they have to, traditional uniform if you like, guests expect it. I have to wear tweeds when taking guests out but wouldn't given the choice.Keepers and hill stalkers don't wear them for nothing!
I am not an expert on the nomad fabric so I am happy to be corrected by someone however:What cloth (outer & lining) do Nomad use for their plus 4’s? It’s not particularly clear on their website.
Thanks for clarification. I need some replacement plus 4’s as it happens.I am not an expert on the nomad fabric so I am happy to be corrected by someone however:
The Nomad Stealth fleece fabric is a one layer garment (I.e. there is not a separate inner and outer layer).
It is a waterproof and breathable fabric - the fabric was developed in the uk by the late Phillip Wright (in conjunction with a few others) and the garments were produced/created through a Polish company.
I can attest to the waterproof abilities of the fabric, having used it in some pretty grim conditions on the hill.
I have a pair of Nomad tweed pattern breeks that are good and breathable but if it's proper wet am on season two of these, Venatu Trousers 2.0 | ShooterKing less than half price in the sale. Venatu for when it's cold and Laydura or Moorland for not so cold
Yer, I bought another couple of pairs in the sale and one of the smocks in that khaki colour for white ground for £89, the only other properly light coloured smock is a Swazi in Tussock for about 3 or 4 times the price. Best thing about it is a full length side ventGreat price on those shooterking trousers Nick!
