Stalking vehicles….

Related to Jesus by any chance ?

Hard to believe or fathom actually given how every single one rusts like crazy.
No way that’s with just the factory coating .
No, I didn’t treat it or jet wash it either. When I sold it it went to be built into a competition off-roader!

No offence but before I bought my Hilux a couple of months ago I looked at around 20 Jimnys. Determined to get one.

Every single one was rotten.
The chassis were disintegrating on ones that weren’t even 5 years old.
I take it you aren't aware that the Hilux has big chassis corrosion issues?
I've been lucky, my 2006 has faired very well, but looked at 2020 Hilux today and it already had signs of rot.

Don’t have to look too far for some details either…

So what would you recommend from an engineering excellence perspective for the OP? Assuming that with great engineering you just need to find a looked-after.
Engineering? Only the G wagen at top of the pile (I was a draughtsman on it in 1977) but what a rotbox it is and has always been, they still sell used for moon rock prices as it seems drug dealers like to rock up in them. A used military Wolf LHD only soft top version from the Swiss army, seems to be far better looked after with simple diesel power and usually has lower kms.
Lada Nivas seem to be reliable enough but only in LHD and spares after Putins fart will be a big issue. They are also known rot boxes, almost every German TV crime show shows rural cops using them.
The German forestry organisations do mainly supply Dacia rusters to the jaeger/foresters.
How about an getting Ibex built as they have a fully galvanised frame? using whichever LR power is the best setup.
Reality = the market for hobby stalkers who want a full on rough use vehicle at weekends then magic wand it into a Nissan Micra for the rest of the week is just not going to get a company interested enough to tool up for such a scenario, you basically need two vehicles/road tax/insurance/repair bills, I do not do this as it is just too expensive on my pension. Some on SD seem to have very high incomes though.

I think the perfect stalking vehicle would be the old Daihatsu Fourtrack. I have had a couple in the past, and they were the most capable small 4×4 vehicles I've ever driven. And fantastic for towing with, too.

I have my eye on one. Very low mileage. One owner from new. Never failed an MOT. Nice huntsman green colour. The old boy who owns it can't possibly keep on driving much longer, he must be nudging 90.
One day, one day.....
What areas that? Asking for a friend 🤣
I had 2001 fourtrak lady dai was her name a set of good tire she went everywhere, great times.
In hind sight I should never of sold her but she was doing more sitting about than work due to business commitments.
Currently running a 25 year old SWB v6 shogun good wee truck for knocking about but likes a wee drink.

The companies are related. Essentially Dacia (in the uk) is a Romanian built Renault with the Renault running and other gear. Sometimes slightly older Renault tech than the latest. This is why they are cheaper. Intelligently done really.
Nissan 4 wheel drive system. The duster and quaski thingy are pretty much the same floor pan and running gear.
They are all in each others pockets!

Well it works well whatever it is. At least the ash tray and heating knobs look like Renault one!! Quashqai & duster diesel 1.5 a Renault engine I think? The 1.2 in my duster is def Renault.
