Starlink Broadband

Being a tad rural here & at the furthest point from the BT exchange our internet is shockingly slow - 1.4 Mbps upload, 4ish download (This message will most likely take till next week to arrive  )
Anyone have any experience of Starlink broadband? Good/Bad???

I've probably fitted 15 starlink setups (not loads I know) for customers now and everyone I've done has been excellent, far faster than the tradition line they had and on the whole very reliable

I bought a 4G router and a Vodafone sim. Much faster than BT and we stream loads and run the business on it. No issues with buffering.

I plan to get a 10dbi antenna and point it towards the nearest mast.

Had Starlink coming up a year now, average mbps 100-150 down load, upload far slower 8-20 mbps, never dropped out for more than 1 minute, not cheap per month but far better than a 4g sim.

I have several friends with it, both in the US and abroad (Philippines to be exact), and they're thrilled with it.

I also have it in my wife's car, and so far, it's been pretty impressive.

My advice would be to look to see if anyone operates a rural radio broadband network in your area.
We’ve just installed this, getting up to 60MB/s @ appx £45 per month - “ line of sight radio wave tech delivering over the air broadband connection” : not quite as fast, but nor as spendy as Elon’s Starlink. Felled a few trees in the wood I planted 30 years ago to gain line of sight to our provider’s mast some 7-8 miles distant. A great improvement on the previous (paraffin-driven) pseudo broadband connection over copper, which was worse than the old dial-up as often as not.

We have it here and it's brilliant. A real game changer, broadband was useless as we are at the end of an old copper wire with no prospect of getting fibre.

Had it about 4 months now.. can’t complain about anything never drops out. Never not worked. Compared to my old BT broadband. It fantastic

Can you get Gigaclear where you are? They can often offer much faster and more reliable internet connectivity than BT or anyone who offers service over BT's copper. Worth talking to them to see if they offer service in your area if your BT internet is slow/unreliable.

Sounds like we may be ditching BT altogether and going satellite for broadband & just mobiles for phone…….might PM a few of you regarding the installation side of things. Cheers for all the responses :thumb:

Pm me if you want anymore info. We run an Internet business so need a good connection. We can also use voip "landline" phone now we get proper speeds
