Stealth Camera Choices

I have been asked by my neighbour who has hedgehogs and Roe deer visiting her garden and would like to take a few photo's of videos of them.

She and her husband have had a couple of cams that they were not impressed with and would like to buy something of a better quality that is user friendly, wont cost the earth and has good battery life. Afraid I haven't had a camera for years and so am not up-to-date with them but told her I know a group of people who would be happy to help, so she asked me to ask the good folk here on SD for advice and asked me to thanks you too. :)

So hoping I can report back to her with some good choice....

Many thanks.

Spypoint Force 20 or Spypoint Force 48.
Have run dozens of these in extremes of temperature for several years. Proven to be
reliable

browning, never had an issue until the earwigs killed them.
plus they have a 12v external power socket to save on batteries.

I've had a Bushnell for over 10 years, not the cheapest but it's still working.

None of them are much good from a quality of image perspective if that's what they are after. The best I had in that regard was a cheap one off amazon (but durability was poor) - still nowhere near something you'd want to put in a picture frame.

ZEISS Secacam. We use them and I’m very impressed with the image quality and control features.

I was given one of these recently, they are brilliant, I paid for an annual subscription £88, I was out this morning on the other end of the farm, phone pinged, red deer, I went around there, but too late, however I did find a wandering stag that is now in the game dealers

I have a Zeiss Secacam on order, hopefully will make catching up with the boar 🐗 at bit easier this winter 😊

Not impressed so far- camera arrived - followed instructions, downloaded app to be told I have to contact customer support to progress further, found a phone number which after 10 mins also asks you to leave phone number - supplier could be getting this back by return post at this rate

Fantastic I think. We’ve used them to build up a picture of fox routine and routes which has helped clear a couple of awkward ones up. Great to see what’s about in terms of deer as well

I have two Campark cameras. I'm sure better quality cameras exist but one of them survived a hedge cutting incident four or five years ago and still works! Maybe I'm a bit cynical but when I got the first one I expected to treat it as a consumable that would end up broken/stolen/failing in one way or another so I didn't want to spend a great deal of money but I've been pleasantly surprised that I still have both of them and that they still work.
