Steel proof...

I know it's not a rifle, so apologies for that, but just looking for some reassurance here...

These are definitely fleur de lys right? It's a 2009 Miroku MK 38 Sport - it looks like they fluffed the stamp on the lower barrel and had another go further back!

I'm in no rush to put 'high performance' steel through it (although I use it all the time in a semi for fowling) but just want to know it's doable - I'm pretty certain of the markings but they're remarkably unclear and there's obviously no mention of steel shot...

Thanks!

For anyone who might be interested or wondering the same, a Miroku dealer says they are indeed fleur de lys and it's good for HP steel.

Interested to see how the industry responds to the recent calls regarding lead. At the very least I hope we see a general shift to new and better biodegradable wads for steel. Lobbing plastic around the foreshore and countryside doesn't seem much better...

Friend if mine who is an RFD says there is little benefit in HP steel over standard steel. He quoted that HP steel is only 10% higher in performance. Checked both of my Berrettas and they are not up to HP steel shot so choice is made for me when the lead ban comes in.

Yeah, as with most of this stuff I'm sure it's mostly marketing nonsense. It's probably all relative in the end anyway - you can learn to compensate for any loss in FPS, which would presumably equate to little in practice. Misses are more likely going to be down to the usual cause...
