How "Poncy" can it be, even Baikal use it on their bottom of the range break action rifles :-P

Neil. :)

Thats true I had forgotten about those from when Remington imported them here !

We had a couple customers bring those in as the triggers were not to great .Seems to me some of them were kinda tight/stiff when you tried to crack them open .

The best bit of advice given to me in the dim and distant past by the contract stalker who taught me a lot of what he knew, was.

(Buy a cheap rifle and the best scope you can afford a cheap rifle will kill deer at 100yds all day then learn to stalk to get to 100 yds.)

duly noted! that's the essence of all the advise given to me.

I put my weakness down to a dearth of toys at the Orphanage but excuses aside for my love of fine kit I can only marvel at your mentor's hair shirt approach however credible I know it to be having honed such skills with a communal Milbro catapult at the age of 10!

I was at the Holt's auction preview yesterday and lot 1154 (http://auctions.holtsauctioneers.co...alelot=A1068+++1154+&refno=+++60969&saletype=) was an absolutely beautiful Mannlicher Schoenauer 1903 takedown rifle in 6.5x54MS. It appeared to be either unused, or completely refurbished, perfect stock, deep blacking with no signs of wear, and pillar bedding had been added discretely. Absolutely fantastic. A complete steal at an estimated £600-800. How does one justify to the FEO that one needs a slot for a 6.5x54MS, because I don't. I just want one.

I have two Steyrs, an M72 in .243 and a Luxus in 30-06. They are not a scratch on my ancient Mauser or any of my Blasers. I have added a new Luxus to my collection and I hope it will be better than the other two in every shape of the word. The Luxus in 30-06 shoots well but if I were to spend upwards of 2k on a new hunting rifle, it would not be on a Steyr. In Switzerland they are quite rare and draw little attention.............

Done. I'm not bidding on anything. I just go for the window shopping and the free drinks these days. Although i have been known to both buy and sell there in the past, and I imagine it will happen again some day. When I have some spare cash and a 6.5x54MS slot. Or get carried away with some other lunacy.
