Stiff bolt close, case trimming?

I have a 6.5 creedmoor which I am reloading for, all of the brass has been bumped back at the shoulder correctly but the odd case is stiff on bolt close, could this be to do with case length?

Are you just neck resizing then? Sooner or later after multiple firings you will probably need to FL resize as well as all the brass moves and expands not just the neck.....

They are only 5 thou above minimum length however it is a custom chambering?

Compare the length of the cases that will, and won't fit.

It's still possible the shoulder needs bumping back a little.

Yes, bumped them all back to same measurement as usual on gauge

Primers seated properly flush or below flush?

I assume your gauge is comparing fire formed brass to your sized brass and that you have bumped the shoulder back a couple of thousandths of an inch?

If you are using an RCBS press ie no springing back, and you are certain your sizing die is adjusted correctly, then you may need a small base resizing die, also from RCBS.

When you find one that is stiff to close bolt, don’t close the bolt remove the projectile and powder and measure it, coal, shoulder etc that should tell you what is different in that one to the other.

Full length resize those that wont fit, then check, i will put a pint on that it will fit, as long as dies are set up correctly.
So what will that tell you ?

Remove fire control mechanism

Close bolt on resized case so that you have slight pressure (just) to close bolt

Any cases that are difficult to close from there on in I would bump the shoulder only sufficiently to enable the above with bolt handle

Or set aside / scrap as you are likely to have accuracy issues with those cases

What is your chamber neck diameter?

Can you show us a pic of your resizer in situ where you use it I think I may have your answer
