Stop buying Swazi gear

Made in the UK. Feels weird being in the hills in one layer in stinking weather and not needing a waterproof or baselayer but it really works.

You'll get 10+ years hard use from each garment. Needs to be cold though.

Always use layers so this would be a no-go for me as well (have friends who use and like them though)

Sad that Swazi sold their loyal customer base down the river...

I have a Swazi Severn top, made in NZ and is at least 15 years old and still looks like new despite a hard life.
Such a shame to see the apparent drop in quality for Swazi gear which commands a premium price.
I’m going to give this stuff a later this year. Shame there’s not a UK distributor…..yet…..

Whilst good, (I use one) they will wet out in a downpour. Warm though.

I’m now buying fortis clothing made in the uk .Sasta made in Finland is great quality but you pay about the same as Harkila (now made in china ) for base layers I now use woolpower made in Sweden , I wear these all the time for work diving ,ski touring and shooting . I used Icebreaker when they were made in NZ but there now made in china .
reputations are built in the west not china ,who can recommend a Chinese owned hunting jacket ?
Next time I’m up north I’m going to Sheffield to try on a Buffalo garment ,I didn’t know they were still going and I helped test the sleeping bag in 1982!!

Agreed, but they dry out quickly and you stay warm even when wet.

The system is you bring another Buffalo to sling on if you have to stop. Difficulty is they are bulky. But plenty of mountaineers that use the Buffalo system don't take any waterproofs and do full Scottish seasons.
