Subsonics not cycling in a moderated semi auto shotgun

Why were you expecting them too?

Most auto shotguns either need enough gas to cycle or inertia depending on mechanism.

If however your gun was cycling and has now stopped remove all oils and greases from the complete action. It simply likes to mix with combustion materials to make a sticky tar.

Cycles normal cartridges fine was just trying to make it a bit quieter so bought a box to try and stupidly thought as 32g would be fine

Anyone else had this issue ?
Yes. 2 Keepers I know own Ruger 10/22's. The only reliable ammo to cycle the action is CCI subsonic 40gr. They have tried Winchester, Ely, Remington with mixed results.
Eley is the quietest. CCI does give the occasional crack.
it does rely on how clean the rifle action is.

Im not as familiar with berettas as other makes, but I have had some of my gas and inertia guns not cycle low loads (and one with some subsonics) until I had them broken in with really heavy stuff, if its a 3" chamber I would recommend a box or even two of 50g BB just to see if that changes anything.
I had a SBE3 and an SX4 (so inertia and gas) which had issues cycling lower clay and game loads (28-30g) and the BB treatment worked a treat.

Any semi automatic needs a certain level of recoil, inertia or gas pressure required to cycle the action. Subsonic cartridges need much less gas energy to accelerate the load to subsonic velocities and produce much less recoil. Most semi’s struggle with light recoiling loads.

Its the reason why most American police shotguns are pump actions - they use low recoiling bean bag and less than lethal ammunition as well as full power shot and slugs. A pump handles any ammunition regardless of the level of recoil.

Have you tried any other brands of cartridge?
Most modern semi autos shouldn't really have an issue with 28s.
I've got a 1301 comp pro that will fire off 24's all day long. (Not subs though)

I have a semi auto 20g with the screw in moderator, it cycles subs all day long, i would try smelly dogs advice and give it a good degrease at a minimum, good luck

I have a winchester SX4 and reliable cycling needs 30g and above in 70mm cartridges. Do you get much noise reduction using the mod with normal cartridges.
I have toyed with the idea of a mod but it's the extra length that puts me off.

Apologies. Shotgun not Rifle. RTFQ!

I have an old beat up Baikal hush power about a half mile long.
It's ugly but I shoot it really well. The length actually helps. And although not silent I have noticed that birds are soon to be coming in again. Any supersonic crack that is present seems to have little range, especially when windy.
