Suitable ATV/Quad for Reds/Sika

When I was in Scotland They used a six wheel drive quad and the fella reckoned it was the only quad he had (He had four) that would take on anything the hill had to offer

It had a tipping back and A winch to drag the deer in to it

Sorry rubbish pic

Morning All

So I'm in the market for a quad that can handle the Scottish hills and mountains but also big enough to load a red onto. I've been looking at a lot of reviews, and of course they're all the best solution! ... not helpful.
I'll be looking at towing (or stowing) with the Ranger I'm picking up hopefully this week, but road legal would also be a benefit.

Any recommendations (pros/cons) would be appreciated. Would it be easier to get a smaller quad and towed sled/trailer?

Cheers All

J
Make sure its 4 wheel drive or switchable between 2 and 4 wheel drive....guaranteed you will get a 2 wheel drive stuck up Scotland....

I have a Canam outlander 570. It's good and has plenty of power but the downside is that it's heavy and noisy compared to the honda 500s

up in the highlands the bigger the quad the faster it sinks:D and a nightmare to get out!!due to the very challenging terrain and unseen sink holes boggs.me personally I like simple straight forward Honda trx 350 manual 4x4 light if you get sunk and less electronics to go wrong.reliability is a must, the good old 350 has yet to disappoint!!its even pulled out bigger 500 4x4 sunk up to racks with no problems.

The only hesitation I have about the 350 is the rack load... a big red wouldn't sit comfortably on the back, and on paper the towing capacity is lacking. Happy to be told otherwise though.

If only my quad could talk,:lol:its all about the tieing down!rack size and load capacity isnt the best but it will do.:thumb:.
