Summer boots

I'm looking for some lightweight, cooler (temperature, not my already spiffy image) boots. Ideally they'd be:

Soft soled, I'm on clay ground which when dry makes noise like walking on a pavement.
Breathable or thin enough to allow some airflow.
Have a bit of ankle.

Any suggestions?

Crocs mty there wonderful ? sorry he told me to do it
but i used a pair Karrimor hiking boots i used diver daves stuff on them from new and there still water proof to this day ,the walking shoes are also worth a look i used mine every day .

Thanks lochty. I looked at the ex-MOD stuff and will check the others.

paul o'. With socks, obviously? ;) Shoes won't give the ankle cover I want but a pair of cheap/light Karrimor might do it.

Do you not think in the 15 years of owning meindle they aren't as good I've had pairs possibly dating back well over 15 years and the last pair I have here will be my last i dont think the quality is there anymore

Alt-berg makes a really good ‘desert boot’. Probably located in the military section of their website. I found the Meindl boots quite comfortable but the Lowa ones just rubbed me raw from day one. A leather (as opposed to suede) offering might be the jungle boot? Again, I’d recommend Alt-berg

PaulCat have you considered something from Decathlon? Shooting and Hunting Boots | Mens, Womens, Kids | Decathlon

I've bought several different types of shoe and boot from Decathlon for the last six or seven years and have always found them to be hard wearing and brilliant value for money. My particular favourite is the waterproof Solognac 100 boot which I wear all year round but I'm very tempted to buy a pair of their hunting breathable boots SHOES - Breathable Boots 100 which they claim are suited to hunting in dry conditions. For less than £25 if I only use them for the summer I would be happy with that.

Lots of suggestions to keep me busy this afternoon. Thanks.

8x57. I spotted Decathalon's Solognac 500 which looks okay but nowhere seems to have stock. I agree, I'd only expect them to last a summer or two but they don't need to be hard wearing. I might risk a whole £25 on the 100's and see how they go.

404Shooter. Alt-berg looks interesting after only a passing glance. I like these although the leg's a bit high, might go nicely with a pair of cargo shorts and if I could have them in a darker shade please as beige clashes with my peach-like complexion ;). Boots | Alt-Berg Serious contenders with the longer term in mind, I'll have a furtle around the site.

Sh1kar. Ecco don't seem to offering much at the moment and Courtney's are a bit out of my price range (which I agree I never mentioned). £265 + shipping + duty + vat and I can't really see me prancing around the plains of Hertfordshire in these ;) https://www.courteneyboot.com/demo/.../08/Patrol-Two-Tone-Leather-Angle-450x450.jpg

Bavarianbrit. Nothing on Rocky's site grabs me for this but there are a few contenders for my next pair of 'street' boots. Thanks for that.

FISH BOY. Mendell, I took a look at those and they're a bit 'busy'. That said they look like they breathe and who's going to see them anyway?

kimh. Those look too nice for dragging around the sharp flints we have round here, definitely some ideas for my 'posh' pair though.

Thanks for all the tips, I'll keep looking.

Re courtenay. Bit less than you think

Ecco boots

Ex-Army issue Lowa desert boots are the best I’ve come across. Now the military are on brown boots the beige coloured ones are as cheap as chips on eBay.

Meindl or Lowa......try their desert boots, available for around £35 from British Military Surplus.
Or Magnum Amazon desert boots £25, or 'British Army desert boots, £20
Go for 'Grade 1, used' and in most cases you will get brand-new in the original packaging.

Alternatively, buy premium branded boots with the words 'hunter' or 'stalker' printed on it, maybe a little logo showing a rifle, deer or a set of antlers, and pay around £250-£300! ;)

Jack Pike , Tundra boot. Had mine for years now and they are perfect for Africa also. £70 I think. I wear then every day at the moment for work, very comfy.
Tusker

Alt berg tabbing boots are pretty good, there is plenty of flex in the front sole and as they have no gore tex lining and only a partial camberele lining they are fairly cool and breatherable.
I’ve also used them in Scotland in February with seal skin socks and they have been adequate for that too, but I preferred my alt berg defenders

@PaulCat I have a pair of Haix desert high liability boots that I'd sell if interested?
Size 8w purchased brand new by me, worn twice on two short dry walks and not right size for me. Never seen rain or mud.
