I realise that you can make a saline solution this way but would you still be worried about any pyrogenic effect due to residual bacterial cellular material after lysing the cells?
Obviously its not being used intravenously but even so would there be an effect on the healing of the wound?

I can't see it being clinically significant! It's still going to be better than being held down and hosed with Dettol.

I have used bog standard tap water and table salt intravenously to no ill effect in cows

I guess tap water is pretty clean of residual bacterial load and a cow does have the great ability to deal with massive quantities of lippopolysaccharide (dealing with mastitis for instance)
I'm surprised there isnt significant cytokine stimulation and a minor pyrogenic response locally though

That or die from shock or dehydration! TBH they are mostly stuffed full on antibiotic and anti-inflammatory too.

What would a local minor pyrogenic response look like, I wonder?
Would it cause a problem, and would its detection (assuming it was looked for at all) be of any benefit?

when i had the terriers years ago i used a product called "cut an heal" it smelt fab and was a liquid that was applied to the wound with a dipper sponge that was attached to the lid, found it brilliant stuff used alongside salt wash twice a day

I work as a surgical nurse and we use "DermaBond" labeled adhesive for some wounds. They used it on both of my hip replacements and it worked well. It will seal a wound that has been sutured in a rather unclean area, as well. That aside, friends parrot got excited when the moving men arrived and accidentally tore off a rear talon. It was bleeding like nobody's business and we were worried about the bird. Pressure didn't help. Nothing worked. I finally walked to the nearby truck stop and bought Super Glue Gel. Worked like a charm.
