Swarovski Binoculars

Well my new Bins arrived from Macleods today CL10x25 and I have to say they are brilliant, I have just compared them in fading light alongside my EL10x42 and yes there is a bit of a compromise but I think the 10x25 will be my new go to bins from now on.
I really like the EL's but the difference in weight will be the deciding factor for me and the fact they fit in my pocket as well, I mostly bought them for taking out with me on my dog walks down the local park but I am that impressed I will probably start carrying them during my stalking trips, I also use a DS scope so the final range finding isn't really an issue.

I have a pair and I really like them. The main problem with them is that the folding bit keeps moving around, each time you take them out. This means I have to realign my each bin cylinder with my eyes, each time it comes out of my pockets.


Have you found a way around that?

I haven't had them out in anger yet but I think I'll live with that, I have a cheap pair of pocket bins that I had to alter every time I took them out my pocket, It never bothered me but Image was terrible hence buying a decent pair

Yep, love my 10 x 25's and dead handy to take anywhere and everywhere.

Just had them down the park and watching a woodpecker popping it's head in and out of a small hole, The image was crystal clear, Very impressed for the size

Can you get that with 10x25 I do like the size, they are nice bit of kit without doubt

We have a similar pair of these little binoculars. They are really good.

But where my Zeiss 7x42 BGAT’s or other similar binoculars really are better is when are spending a lot of time picking apart a landscape looking for deer or other wildlife. They are so much easier and less tiring on your eyes.

Where the little ones really shine is that they are small and light enough to always be with you and perfect for looking at that deer, otter, small birds etc. I can and do use them when stalking - mostly because they live in the glove box and i have forgotten my bigger ones.

Or put it another way. Cameras on your phone are really good. But they are no better than a digital SLR when it comes to taking really good photos of wildlife.

I'm by no means an optics expert but I can't see a lot of difference between the 10x42 and the 10x25, the 10x is the amount of zoom and I really can't see much difference between the two, I have been out this morning down the park with the dog and the image quality was amazing, I did try them from the back door last night when the light was fading looking into the trees behind my house and the 10x42 deffinatley let in more light, but during normal daylight I can't see a great deal of difference between the two. you have also got more FOV with the 10x42 but I'll live with that.

Ive used the pocket ones for a good few years, I think in daylight there is little difference but as the light goes my ELs are leagues ahead. But I take my pocket ones far more places that I just wouldn't bother with the Els because of their weight and just like cameras; the best one is the one you have with you.

Well a little update on the CL's, I have just came back in from a walk around the local nature reserve, the Binoculars are great and everything I need however the neck strap is terrible, Swarovski must have spent about £1 on this, I have just went on a well known website and ordered a neoprene neck strap for a few £, Still can't fault the bins though but the neck strap is a let down.

my mrs made a doubled up tube like cover for mine out of a soft towelling material, works a treat, if it gets wet slip it off and dry, nice soft support

I have a set of El Ranges and on a tough day they are ideal as part of a controlled fitness program. I also have a pair of CL Pockets, they are astonishingly good in decent light I take them when I go Munty hunting
