T3 why do folk like them?

Patient: "Hey Doc! It hurts every time I to this"
Doctor: "Then stop doing that."

Not an option.

Blonde goes to dr. Says hey doc i think i have something really wrong with me. Doc says what makes you think that. Well when i touch any part of my body it hurts. She then demonstrates by touching various parts of her body saying och everytime. The dr says, excuse me dear but a think you have a broken finger

I had the original T3 hunter when they came out. No frills for sure, but......they simply work. Gone for the T3x these days. 2 of them though I have since sold the 223. Synthetic more practical for my needs now. Durable and accurate. Nice to shoot as well

I’d give it away.
Only problem is. It’s not mine, belongs to the org I work. I wouldn’t of bought it in the first place

Apologies, I did not realise that it was your "works" rifle and that you had no choice but to use it, I was a bit mystified as to why you continue to use a rifle that you clearly dislike, I think you should have made this clear from your opening post as many people will not read every single reply or update to your thread.

Perhaps you should approach whoever supplies you with the rifle and make clear all of you're concerns, especially regarding the safety issue around the bolt/ safety catch.

I see. I guess you're stuck with it.
I have never considered having to disengage the safety to open the bolt a problem but then, I generally hunt with the chamber empty. I do hunt in rough country when i can't avoid it, and like the fact that the safety locks down the bolt. When I do need to remove a live round from the chamber I point the rifle in a safe direction, disengage the safety and raise the bolt handle. I don't find this to be a problem and own six T3's in various forms.~Muir

I put money on it this load could have been tuned further with seating depth. Certainly wouldn't have ridded the rifle, it's not too shabby.

I was showing that a 700 can out perform a T3!
I want to put a smiley face but it won’t allow me to

You're right, manufacturers should think about what they are making, and I strongly suspect that most of them do get extensive feedback from users and if enough people keep coming up with the same issues, then a good manufacturer will change the product to suit.
If they only get a small number of comments/complaints, then they're unlikely to do anything about it.
If you are one of those few then you have the choice to stick with that product or try something different.
Personally, I think the T3 is a product with few vices and many virtues, and the numbers sold tend to indicate that many people share my views.
My issue with Remington is that they don't listen to their customers.
If they did, the potentially deadly trigger on the 700s would have been fixed years ago.

Cheers

Bruce

As it’s a works rifle, I don’t have a lot of choice. If i was looking for a rifle to own, I would ignore T3’s due to my dislike of the product. As I’m a professional user of firearms I want one that suits me. Remingtons fit my requirements. I have never had an issue with their triggers, others have. My trigger got replaced when the recall was issued. I have never had a self discharge with a Remington but I have had one with a Sako 75. A superior quality rifle, they still have their issues. Manufacturers not listening is not restricted to just Remington.

I know, sorry couldn't resist pulling yer leg
I do like the Rem 700 too though I must admit ours has a Bell and Carlson stock, timney trigger, and Kreiger barrel so not much left of it that is actually Remmington.

I like the T3's also. For what it's worth here's a group from a T3 fully factory rifle.

when I originally replied to your thread, you had made no mention that the rifle was supplied to you up to that point and that you had to use it. You only did that after I replied to your thread, so I did read all of the thread. This was why I ( and others I am sure ) was thinking - why keep using a rifle that you dislike? Just an observation.

I have a Tikka T3 as well as a Sako 85. I find the T3 perfectly fine to use, It is every bit as accurate as the Sako 85. I agree with some of your points, I changed the bolt shroud to a metal one, I prefer the safety catch arrangement of the 85 where you can open the bolt with the safety catch still applied, a definite safety advantage. The magazine can be inadvertently dropped from the rifle if you are not careful, as the mag catch is easy to depress, crawling through heather for example!

Very few rifles are absolutely perfect though and as long as you are aware of its weaker points then the rifle is perfectly fine to use and well liked by most people.

The rifle is however substantially cheaper than a Sako 85 for example, the latest versions have gone some way to improving its weaker points, it is however a very good rifle out of the box.

I am not a professional user such as yourself, so I do respect your views but I do like the rifle - where as you clearly do not.

There is obviously a very good reason as to why it is and has remained so popular. Prices are creeping up there now though!

No need to apologise. Just don’t do it again or I’ll take my T3 to you!

Sorry, didn’t mean to imply you hadn’t read the whole thread. Others havent, they were the ones i was getting at.

- what a load of faff.

Yes but no but --- they shoot, no point in having a rifle that ticks all the boxes that does not shoot accurately - and for the money the Tikka is a great rifle.

Below a Tikka I finished reloading for yesterday for a chap. I may suggest to him he puts it in a Bifrost stock

I have never said they don't shoot accurately. Basically what I have said is I don't like them.

I've had a T3X for just over a year; it's 'alright'. Light, accurate and reliable. I've not fallen in love with it, but it does what I need and didn't break the bank.

@Ranger22, perhaps you should inform the relevant person at work that you don't like your T3.

Maybe you will be offered a Remington 700 as a replacement or even a Blaser R8 Ultimate Silence if you ask really really nicely. ;)
