T8 re-finishing

Does anyone know of a company that can re-finish T8 sound moderators?

I really like the T8 moderator itself for sound reduction, but the finish on the outside is a bit crap to be honest.

If you get it wet (which is a common occurrence in the cold wet extremities of Scotland) & leave it any more than an hour then spots/blotches start to appear on the finish. It doesn’t affect the performance or quality of the moderator... just merely takes away from the aesthetics of it.

Can they be re-finished at all?

Cheers

Dale

Its a real shame, probably the best moderator on the market for noise suppression yet such a crap finish.

If only they put a bit more effort into the R&D side of it they could have the ultimate moderator.

I imagine you could get it dura or cera coated but that would cost.Spraying it with black heat proof paint ( like BBQ or exhaust paints) maybe an option....

They are not designed for long life ! They are designed as a disposable part and priced for that in country of origin ! Its only when they get here after mark up they cost so much.
Try motorcycle exhaust paint .

I am about to have mine re-coated with teflon coating by RG rifles, I will let you know how it works out.

Just stick with what you have ,just squirt with wd40. I have a 8 year old t8 with 9000+ rounds through it and still going

hi i am the same t8 has over 5000 rounds down it a decent cover will save it in most conditions

Thats true ! Jackson rifles give you 40% off a new one. Mine was about 9 years old when it rotted out . replaced it with an ASE S5.

I've recently replaced my T8 witha sonic 45 mod. Sound reduction is near par with the T8, but it is much lighter, shorter and has better recoil reduction. It's also fully strippable and seems to have a more durable finish.

...It's also fully strippable...

I really don't understand why this is considered a good thing in a centrefire mod. My Northstars and ASE Utra seem to manage fine on a little sip of WD40 and a couple of hours on the radiator.

I seem to spend long enough cleaning guns and rifles which actually benefit from it.
:)

I agree that WD40 is a shite choice of product to use on moderators/firearms.

It may be reccomended by the importer, but people would be much better off using Oil, which is what I do, with no complaints.

Hiya, No thats true, my mate had one, it was rotten, got a new one at 50% of the price new, and sent in his old one in part exchange.....:)

The benefit of it being fully strippable is you can clean it the same as you would your T8, or when necessary give it a deep clean. Everyone is different, but after owning T4s and T8s in the past, I wouldn't buy another.

dont no if every one gets told about this so worth asking wen you get one because it makes it alot more worth while

That's my point! I can clean any non-strippable moderator the same as I clean my T8, as I don't clean it at all!
Why on earth a centrefire moderator would require a 'deep clean' I can't begin to imagine - certainly none of mine has ever seemed to require this, which is just as well as they're all non-strippable.
:)

Ive been recoating moderators for 5 years now, done dozens, no issues once they're done, trouble with T8s they go from the inside!

I do mod coating for £25!
