Tall larder fridge

Hi I've just brought a cheap tall fridge off ebay with the idea of hanging the odd Roe or Muntjac in it for a few days, to give me time to dress them during this hot weather. Does anyone else use a tall larder fridge and are they any good

A mate uses one, don't drill any hanging holes. Use the top molded tray profile and bridge it across with a fixture.
I use a piece of ally builders ladder which I cut the rung in half and tapped in a bit of box to get the right width.

Have you a picture of this please ?

I am thinking of doing the same and as the world's worst DIY bloke I would have drilled holes to hang a rail - I thought bushwear sold a kit for this purpose ?

I bought a nice Samsung tall larder fridge off eBay for Sam purpose paid £135 for it has changed my whole approach to bringing deer home as now I have my own chiller. I made an A frame out of box aluminium that goes on top two shelves mouldings means the more weight that you hang on it the more it spreads out in to the mouldings. I can hang decent size fallow doe in or 4 CWD. It now means I am in control of when I butcher in warm weather

We use one, had a fallow pricket in it last year. Not really recommended though as you can probably see. Will stick to munti and roe. Step brother had a bit of round bar milled flat on the ends to slot in the shelf mouldings.

What type of larder fridge is that? Is that a circulation fan in the top left corner?

Looks just what I’m looking for

The newsagent Coca Cola fridges are very good, but expensive even on eBay. Don’t drill into the sides unless you really need to. Use the rail mounts that are designed to hold the internal trays if you can and put together some sort of improvised racking that you can remove and wash off. You need a fan in my view. If your fridge doesn’t have one, there’s a kit from Bushwear that you can buy.

I used our old one when we bought a new fridge. You can actually drill if you're careful. Mine wasn't tall enough to use the existing shelf mouldings, so I had little option. I didn't drill all the way through though; just through the inner skin, then pushed a hole in the insulation. The pictures should hopefully explain it better :thumb:

If you cut 2 lengths nearly to the top (ally etc) then the top one a tad wider it will wedge the 2 up rights so you don't have to drill holes...

I have one - bought on Gumtree. will fit a couple of roe or a sika hind.

It would be handier if the motor/compressor was at the top but it does my job fine.

You don't need a fan!! never had any meat mould in mine.

Interesting that you say no fan needed. I used to have a fridge for hanging rabbits for the ferrets but they nearly always got mould so gave up on the idea

This ^^^ I’ve got one plus a drinks chiller the larder fridge gets used for muntys and roe but as stated just used the moulded grid to hang an s hook off

I use one which I've drilled for a rail.
It's out in the garage and suffered a bit from condensation, particularly if the carcass was wet, often a problem in the North of Scotland. Fitted a fan, no problem since then.

Any chance of some pictures? I quite like the idea of doing similar with mine :thumb:
