The purpose of the thread is to find a great place for an avid deerstalker to live in the south of England.I don’t get this thread.
You want to move south of Oxford but looking at Bedford and the Cotswolds!
I smell BS
Last time I checked this was in ScotlandPeebles![]()
You see deer in every other field in the cotswolds, permission on the other hand might be trickierWhat the the best place for a deer stalker to live in the south of England?
I am looking to move somewhere within southern England and would like to find out if anyone recommends their home (or if anyone has somewhere they would want to move).
This is taking into account that I enjoy deer stalking, would like a strong community and a decent shooting range (potentially long distance to help with ethical shots).
As it stands I am looking at new Forest and the Cotswolds.
New Forest because it has Sika and a rich hunting history.
The Cotswolds because it is a bit better situated for travelling north which might make hunting opportunities more accessible.
Indeed! It does seem like I will be learning the nuances of networking in the UK. Sounds like good fun.Good luck wherever you end up.
It's all about networking in this fine land, and being a decent guy or gal and having a big dollop of luck thrown in... or a $hit load of money to use if that's the way you roll
Atb BD.
Well you are wrong so perhaps add Geography to the learning list as well.I believe Bedford and the Cotswolds count as being in the south.
Bedford and the Cotswolds are in the South for us NorthernersWell you are wrong so perhaps add Geography to the learning list as well.
Still a very funny smell. This is a public forum and always suspicion of such threads by newly joined members.
Just saying.
They are definitely up country for us oggiesBedford and the Cotswolds are in the South for us Northerners![]()
The tax threshold is much lower their Lee as they have hardly any deer so HMRC feel sorry for them..You need to avoid wales or you’ll need your own deer park/farm if you want to shoot something
Apart form that you’ll shoot stuff just about anywhere else if your wallet is fat enough!
If HMRC felt sorry for us then the tax threshold would be higher, not lower. The tax threshold is much lower their Lee as they have hardly any deer so HMRC feel sorry for them..
Having moved around quite a bit in my life, I can say that the hardest thing is finding the opportunities once you get to a new area.yes you can get paid stalking or join pheasant syndicates (possibly ). or pay for days here and there, but more than that will take time and effort. I am now just south of Gloucester and it is an hours travel for me to where I stalk and have a pheasant syndicate. I have a number of ranges around, but it is only 90 miles to Bisley... how long a range do you want?Only if there was some particularly great hunting opportunities further south. We have looked at New Forest for this reason.
The Cotswolds/Gloucestershire are where we are looking for northern facing accessibility.
or open sewers as they are now calledHampshire. Chalk streams as well
