I use lead free pellets in my sub 12ftlbs air rifle and they perform basically the same as lead.

Never used an FAC airgun, but I have toyed with the idea of purchasing one on and off for a few years now. Have you tried non-lead pellets in yours and fpund that they don't work?
 
Its going to be very very interesting if the UK goes ahead with a ban and the EU and the rest of the world doesn’t.
Either way, the international governing bodies set the rules for ammunition used in competition, if those rules aren’t changed UK competitors are going to find themselves at a distinct disadvantage very shortly.
You’ll also find that your available non lead ammunition has to be UK produced, both for both shotgun and .22LR.
Whatever about shotgun ammo, non lead .22 is a major shift, current offerings just can’t match lead and likely never will.
 
No subs means people with horses will have to pay for warrens to be gassed as a 17,22HV or 223 are all too loud for a £20k dressage horse to accept. Obviously there will be commensurate compensation paid for this withdrawal of our liberty?

22lr is the most widely used round in the world. I very much doubt that R&D is being neglected in favour of other, less popular, calibres.

Well a lot of money has been spent on trying to develop a lead-free priming compound, yet little of it has reached the civillian market (Fiocchi annd Murom made them, then stopped. Federal uses a proprietary lead-free primer in some of their copper ammo).

If anyone is worried about lead poisoning, they should be looking at the gaseous compounds generated from firing a firearm, not the much less reactive solid (and usually alloyed/coated/jacketed) that emerges from the muzzle.

Then again,that's basic chemistry and anyone worrying about lead evidently didn't do too well in that subject. Maybe they have lead poisoning already... :rofl:

I love the lack of noise with the sub-sonic 22LR. If you are rabbiting late in the evening near civilisation it is perfect. Almost silent and not expensive to run. If you alter either of those qualities then it will loose its popularity and purpose.

Because it is, provably, scientifically studied and verified, and theres no room for argument.
Lead is a very insidious neurotoxin.
However, not all lead products have the same toxicity and not all lead ammunition behaves the same way in the environment.
All of which is going to be a very moot point for UK shooters by December 2023.

So surely Copper should be classed as "Less Toxic" rather than "Non Toxic"...

ferrets ! Airguns ! traps! Gas ! When i was a mad keen ferreting lad i found stables very easy to obtain ferreting permissions on ( even on a few vegan owners ground ) . Long term i am quite confident there will be alternatives produced as there is a lot of money spent on 22 RF ammo ( it might involve new barrel or new rifle to get the best performing), as twist rates and bullets will change as the ammo evolves . I do think the lead ban as regards 22 RF is a bit crackers and many nations who have been lead free a while now have dodged it .
Lets not go breaking the laws when the ban comes in though because there will be a big backlash fix on its way if we do that will certainly leave us all in a far worse situation .
