The out yesterday or today thread and...

First outing for the fly rod for me yesterday at a local stillwater. 18ish to the net between about 2pm and 6pm all on floating buzzers. Some stonkers too - a few rainbows in the 4-6lb mark and an absolutely beautiful brownie that I'd put at 6lb+.

No P I C T U R E S as I was on my own and I'm not one for buggering about when catch and release

I was out for 1st light this morning on barley drillings. Farmer phoned to say just finished yesterday and about 50 corvids on it.

Wasn't expecting a big bag , but slowly the numbers built up and I ended on 95.

Popped into see him on my way home and he was chuffed as said loads of the jackdaws were stealing barley seed from the shed .

So stopped theft from the shed and also protected the drilling ...happy days 😁

Brilliant job Nick, well done 👍

My better half recently got me my first little squirrel job through speaking to her boss, she was looking for someone to reduce down the population in their garden, I was more than happy to oblige!

Went for a recce on Monday, just looking to see if I could spot any, certainly could! 2 less squirrels in the garden, I'm sure there'll be more, so a few more visits should keep me entertained.

Jess pursued a scent the other night and got a fox barking at her.
Then I got this on the trail camera.

So out this morning as dawn was arriving I went a stalking and bingo, the hares don't lie!
I was leaving when I noticed at a favourite spot a hare standing up and others bolting.
Hello I thought and out he popped. Laser said 180 something but he came towards me and I stopped him for the 100yd shot.

If its local put out cage traps under a big tree, they will que up, if you cant visit every day lock it open till you can, they are the easiest thing to cage trap, whole walnut and a hand full of peanuts

Out stalking this morning, saw a couple of roe bucks and some muntjac, then bumped into these two on the way back to the car.

Both were on the bank - took the doe first then waited about 10 mins before the buck came out to see what had happened.
Shot within a foot of each other!

Funny how some aren’t bothered at all by the shot and are quite happy to hang around.

Lovely morning to be out, hopefully out again tomorrow as well to thin out some more……..
