Nicely done. I would have preferred it if you could have removed a jackdaw as having a row of 7 then rows of 6 is making my eye twitchFarmer rang yesterday to say crows on the new winter barley coming through so had a few hours this morning sat out in the glorious September sunshine
Not loads of birds about but still trimmed a few crows and a bonus brace of pied pirates.

There are a few around here, never use to be.We had some Pinks feeding on the shoot earlier in the week, a few of the lads were keen to have a ago and as I am the one with the decoys 6am this morning saw me driving onto the stubbles to set up. Two cried off, one was ill, the other heard the rain and thought his duvet was a better proposition, leaving just myself and one other who ventured out.
Plenty came over, all high and all destined for somewhere else, we were positioned that well but a good skein of Pinks did decoys and we got one each, didn’t help the other gun left his safety catch on to start with. It was very exciting to pull a mob in after seeing so many fly on by, but I really do prefer the foreshore

One of my favourite practices in November late afternoons / evenings, was gathering with a half dozen or so mates with the shotguns for roost shooting. Don't seem to hear of it anymore though. It's good to see so many crows and magpies being dealt with. They are reaching plague proportions around here. Crows are a real pain, but as far as destructive work on small birds, magpies win by a country mile. The only good one is a dead one!
Its a shame Magpies are protected in Wales where I do a good bit of my shooting...vile birds. Nice when I'm across the border and they can have itIt's good to see so many crows and magpies being dealt with. They are reaching plague proportions around here. Since the magpie is now protected have you seen any increase in numbers? Its a shame Magpies are protected in Wales where I do a good bit of my shooting...vile birds. Nice when I'm across the border and they can have it![]()
Yes...massive increases. I used to shoot one farm hard and you would see 2 or 3...go back 3 years or so on and theres 30 or 40....I cant say about the corresponding decrease in hedgerow birds but it cant be positive....god knows why Wales have to be different ....utter stupidity and short sighted. Its the same as objecting to fox shooting and wanting to keep the last remaining curlews alive....Since the magpie is now protected have you seen any increase in numbers?
Yep you're right utter stupidity, never understood where that change came from.Yes...massive increases.
