The price of cars!

Mine was like a driving a very soft heated leather armchair that handled a 3.5 tonne trailer and off road mud quite well. I also wasn’t embarrassed to be seen in it like I would be in a Discovery or a Range Rover .
Kindest regards, Olaf
I take your point about RR stuff, it’s a bit cringe

Buy about 4 years old "full fat" RR with about 35k about £40k. Bought a last of old model RR (2012) a year old in 2013, £25k less than list, now done 127k miles and the non-consumable (brake pads, disks, tyres) bill in that time is less than £1k. I know we've been lucky (and the rear wiper isn't working!) but that's good value.

Quite fancy a Ford ranger though....
I was wondering about this, feels a bit like Russian roulette though

Jesus! Is the world going mad?

Just looking at some ideas for later this year ..

Defender - everyone has one - boring - £90K +
Ineos - test drove - awful
RR Sport -110k!
VW Toureg -88k!
Land Cruiser - £70k +

Who on earth is buying this stuff?

Running out of ideas..
People using manufacturers PCPs ? In which case expect a flood of used 3 year old vehicles back on the market at some time.

Have you ever run a Landcruiser? They are NOT high end, more like a tractor ..
the amazon followed by the 200 series are/were every bit as good as the contempory RR but with reliability as well , sadly toyota have decided unlike the rest of the world we in the UK are not allowed them or there replacements anymore so toyota will no longer ever get a penny of my money for anything , much like this government will never get my vote again if they go through with the tobacco ban , if i want a cigar in the comfort of my own home i shall jolly well have one and it has nothing to do with our 'government'

I thought that a Rolls Royce would set you back a bit more than that.....🤔

Ive always had Isuzu crew cabs as my every day work and social vehicle. At present I have an auto 2017 plate which I bought second hand with 32k on the clock about 5 years ago. Not had any trouble out of it at all. That's my 4th Isuzu, including a new Rodeo in 2007, which I ran up to 90,0000 and part exe'd for a 3ltr.
Second hand prices on these are mad, I have been contacted by Isuzu several times and asked if I want to sell it or part ex for a new one, which is over 50k now.

I wouldnt buy a Ford Ranger, too many issues with them. One client/friend bought a new Raptor. 6000 or so miles, engine blew up. Another friend 2ltr Ford Ranger, oil pump packed up 600 miles from home, seized the engine. And my freindly local mechanic has had many in with head gaskets blowing.

I admit I am a bit of a petrol head, and have a second car on the drive. But if you look hard enough you can still find a bargain or two.

My last two jobs were at RR and with the rate they paid me to come over from Germany it is no wonder that they are so expensive.

Did jokingly look at how much a new defender/discovery would set me back. For the options I picked it'd have been £70k... went onto the approved used section of the LR website, and similarly equipped defenders going for £25k with I think 45k miles and 6y on the clock...

I’m not surprised after reading the comments section on a Land Rover advert on social media. There were many complaints from owners detailing issues. Some providing the VIN openly as they were so exasperated with how little was being done.

Get a dealers two year warranty on it, did that on daughters car, I think it cost £350 to make it 2 years instead of 6 months, ok cheaper car but you get the idea..

My 2nd hand car a kia sportage cost 7.5k 3 years ago and they're selling for the same price 🙃.2nd hand or new the car market has gone insane.
I was lucky, right at the beginning of the lockdown I bought the Boss her dream Car a Volvo C70 hard top on a 12 plate and myself a Jimny conversion from KAP. I ended up selling the KA as I was offered an overseas job that fell through. I was lucky enough to get PIP due to long term disability and said thats fine, I'm out of the car game and leased a Hyandai petrol car through motability. Everything apart from fuel is included for three years. I'm glad to be free of the silly game forced on us by the Govts lack of ability to give direction regarding propulsion to the industry.
I was offered hybrid and full electric ad despite the option of free charger fitment and access to a "national" charger network and said not yet thanks, I'll wait and see.

You’ve picked a few of the top end Chelsea tractors and tbh they never get “ bought”. Only leased, so the price doesn’t interest the eejits that get them.

Just buy a Hilux anyway.

Bought my Hilux 2013 in 2018 and paid £11k with 50k miles.

Worth around £4K for insurance today I was told by NFU when I enquired.

I see people trying to sell 2012 Hilly’s for £12k here and there!!!!

Some even £16k for 2014 models

To spend £100k to £120k of your pre-tax income/savings to buy something for £70k….well, in many countries you can buy a lovely little house for that.

Mix that with the utterly pathetic average salary in the U.K. and you have to shake your head in disbelief. Even decent jobs that in many other countries pay £100k pa are still only offering £45k-£60k pay here.

The U.K. is only a market for footballers, the high class/establishment and the offshore money. The number of ‘expensive’ cars sold here is tiny, and it’s shrinking fast as money/wealthy are fleeing the place like rats from a sinking ship 🚢

HAPPY Wednesday 😃
