The White Shepherd

The white shepherd has arrived even earlier than usual this year, we usually get a covering before the end of the stags, but this is only mid September.

Believe there was some in the north last week, but the tops were white here today, it could be a long winter.

Gents,

i travel quite often to Keith/Dufftown to see friends and stalk, I've never found a reliable source of traffic info for the A9 (so I've been caught out once or twice) and spent some fairly cold nights in the truck waiting for it to be opened!

Can you suggest one please?!!

Think we may pay for the good summer you think BT?

Who can say a bit of snow on the tops may not mean a great deal, as you say a good summer but up here a short one, its little more than ten weeks since last winters snow melted off the more back lying parts of the hill.

I've seen snow on the tops in July, August, September and on and it doesn't seem to tell you what the winter will be like.
Last year was meant to be worse than the previous couple of bad ones and it was nothing like them, certainly in my area. Yes the spring was late in coming but the winter, frost and snow wise was fairly good on the whole.
I think the long range forecasts can be taken with a pinch of salt. One will say good and one will say bad, they've both got a 50% chance of being right.
Take it as it comes I say!

Try traffic scotland for road details during the winter.
