Thermal Imagers - alternatives to Pulsar

Personally I think the Acolade XP50 LRF is the absolute dogs whats it’s. Hideously expensive but intended to keep it for a long long time. Pulsar were the best I looked at. Nothing else worked for me. A changeable battery is a must in my opinion. As I said before buy cheap buy twice. I’d Liston with interest to any advice @mealiejimmy or @.243Hunter offer. The former knows his thermals from what I’ve read and the latter offers good advice and service.

Admittedly it was pre the latest firmware update but I did try a Accolade XP50 LRF against my Helion XP50, had them both set on exactly the same settings and found the Helion slightly better.

Not my experience. Up against an XP50 I could see no difference. Still both units are superb and perform flawlessly.

Pulsar warranty is transferable as long as the original receipt is retained ?

See this is the internet , someone asks what’s the best , you have lots of people saying this is, that is , but not as many honest people who have tried most units . It is very easy to be misled , taking from your post your pro XEye or own one .. Definitely not my cup of tea, but end of the day they detect heat sources like most thermals, there not a bad image, but lack seriously in other departments... again give me a Helion model all day long ...

currently do not own a thermal as stated in my earlier post.

One of the points I am trying to get across is that when ever someone is looking to buy an thermal at as £1500 everyone says spend £2200. In the real world, £700 is a fair bit more almost a third. I therefore take it that unless you have a Helion your thermal is a rubbish because its not a Helion.

When you are looking to buy something you what the best you can afford at that price point, not someone saying spend 30% more and get a Helion.

Battery turn around on the exeye is what the post is like that day, so no problem. Three year warranty which is transferable. Compared a few of the exeye units to the equivalent pulsars in the field on game and pound for pound the clarity contrast and picture sharpness is better in my opinion. Value for money all cheaper than the pulsars. The xeye seam to better overall in poor conditions. It's down to personal preference shape design usability etc. That's my opinion I know some will disagree get out try them all in the field then decide.

So - European made, or Chinese... seems there's not much to choose between them, at least until it comes to resale value, then..... :-|

Chinese mate cant comment on resale. I've got an e3max the only thing I didnt like about it was the lens cover kept coming off. Purchased a different type for £6 and its sorted

The E3max and E6 Pro are both poor in adverse weather , the only one which is better is the Saim SCL but then it’s a crap rifle scope.

People can huff and puff all they want , the fact is get a good deal off a retailer and your laughing with a Pulsar spotter..... once again, it’s better than an iray in every aspect .

Not sure about everyone, but by the time the current crisis is behind us and we can look forward to the next 'bat soup/pangolin scale-inspired 'surprise' I think the orientals will have seen off quite enough of my income, just sayin'...

Over processed, over sharpened image , not a bad image though, but too cartoony, encapsulated in poor housing with crap design and features.. this is like a never ending story..

I have tested them all in my own hands in various conditions alongside ....Axion, Helion XQ/XP , E3 Max, E6 Pro, Saim SCL ..The Saim is better than the E3 max or E6 Pro , as a spotter and in various conditions . Helions have the best design and function by far and a much more natural
Image , digital zoom and pip is bad at the best of times but in the iray it’s horrendous..as well as the other options ..

If they were the holy grail trust me I’d say it, but there not , give it a year and you won’t be able to give them away same as the Guides.
