Thoughts on cz 557 .308?

I handled one at a local gun shop a couple of weeks ago. It was a lefthanded action, blued steel and wooden stock.

That's not shooting of course, but it felt every bit as nice as a T3 which would be its obvious competition over here.

CZ seem to be regarded more highly here than they are/were in the UK. One thing to consider if you are a moderator user is whether the ones in the UK come with a threaded muzzle. Pretty sure the one I looked at did not.

All in all I thought it seemed like a very nice rifle.

I Have one in 6.5 very good rifle.

Never had a 557 but have a few 527's all of which have been accurate straight out of the box and well built. As for the triggers there single set triggers are exceptionaly good

Love the 550, 527, 452 but have not really warmed to the 557, 455 and 457 in quite the same way. Am sure they will do the job brilliantly but I understand they are built to keep the factory bean counters happy more than was the case in the past. Having said that it's the way everything seems to be moving, just my two penneth and don't let it put you off the 557 as it is a great value option.

550 is choice of action lengths and Mauser extractor, if that's important for you.

As it's a long action 270, 25/06 30/06 are ideal for 557.

For me it would be a 550.

I was decided on getting a 557 about 5-6 years ago when they first came out, but found it impossible to get hold of one here in Ireland at the time and ended up with a second hand Sako instead.

The 557 seems like a great value non-nonsense workhorse rifle. There's a good Shooting Show review here:

Has anyone any experience with this combination? Any pros cons? I thought it would make an ideal woodland rifle. Thanks in advance
Nice rifle though I found the CZ550 a better rifle especially the varmint laminate with detachable mag. Same action set up as the CZ750 S2 sniping rifle. Comes with a 5rnd box mag and equally takes the same 10rnd box mag of the CZ750 ..
